Bit of Crumpet

Print:
4

Ingredients

8 portion(s)

Batter

  • 1 egg
  • qtr tsp sea salt
  • 160 g Milk
  • 120 g Self Raising Flour, (make your own on pg 21 EDC)
  • qtr tsp baking powder, (make your own on pg 21 EDC)
  • 1 tsp sugar
5

Recipe's preparation

  1. Place all ingredients in Closed lid and mix for 6secs on speed 5.

Scrape down sides of Closed lid and repeat this step until the batter is a smooth consistency.

Heat a frypan with a little butter over low heat then pour batter into greased egg rings and cook for approximately 8-10mins keeping the heat low.

When they stop bubbling and the base is a golden brown they are ready.

You can flip them over and cook for a further 2mins before eating, or they can be toasted for a crunchier taste.

You can refrigerate in an airtight container and toasted as required.

Serve with your favourite topping ie. butter, honey or maple syrup.  For a savoury option, toast and serve with poached eggs and bacon.  There are lots of different ways to eat these delicious crumpets......

If you are not in a hurry, the batter can be covered and kept in the fridge for a few hours or even overnight and cooked the next day for a better result.

    Enjoy !

Love this recipe quick & easy
(no bubbly holes) but went down a treat.

I don't have egg rings so I used my pie maker.

1st batch I only half filled the pie part & closed lid, cooked for 5 mins then flipped & cooked for another 5 mins.
2nd same process but left lid open.

These are more like pancakes, than a crumpet. I made double batch, and cooked most of the batch into pancakes. Nice tasting, not sweet.

  • Really quick and easy. No

Really quick and easy. No they are not as light and fluffy as store bought crumpets...but they are still great.  My 1 year old devoured them along with mum and dad.

These were nice but not very 'crumpet' like - more scone or pancake texture and taste.

  • these were wonderful! I ended

Submitted by Margarita Helen on 2. June 2015 - 17:45.

these were wonderful! I ended up making 3 batches in a row, they were so good! I did double the recipe from the outset based on other comments and on three hungry people. Even with double the recipe, I managed to make 12 (I'm sure my rings are just standard size), so I am glad I doubled the recipe. The third lot is saved as a batter in the fridge for tomorrow morning. Looking forward to breaky again! Thanks heaps for sharing! tmrc_emoticons.-)

of course, just like you would freeze your bread and toast straight from the freezer.  Try a couple and see how you go tmrc_emoticons.)

I just love these, however I will need to double or even triple the recipe next time for my hungry boys. I used a non-stick spray on the egg rings and they came out super easy, no fuss at all.

    Submitted by moomin on 13. February 2014 - 11:30.

Sooooo yummy and easy. Not quite commercial tasting enough for hubby but his palate has been ruined by a non foodie upbringing. I rarely give five stars but this recipe is perfect.
