Ingredients

20 portion(s)

  • 250 g bakers flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon dried yeast
  • 120 g lukewarm water
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • paprika, sumac, Italian herbs, sesame seeds, poppy seeds or finely grated parmesan, to sprinkle

Recipe's preparation

  1. Place the flour, salt, sugar, yeast and water in the mixing bowl.  Mix for 6 sec/speed 6 then knead for 1½ minutes/Closed lid/Dough mode.

  2. Transfer the dough to a ThermoMat or lightly floured surface.  Work into a ball and then wrap in the ThermoMat or place in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with cling film.  Set aside to prove for 1 hour or until nearly doubled in size.

  3. Preheat oven to 200ᵒC. Line two baking trays with baking paper.

Turn the dough out onto ThermoMat or lightly floured surface and knock down, then break off tablespoon-sized pieces and roll each into a long stick, about the thickness of a pencil.  Place each stick on the baking trays, slightly apart from each other.

  4. Brush the sticks with beaten egg and sprinkle with your choice of topping.

Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden.  Remove from oven and place on a wire rack to cool completely.

My seven year old enjoyed making these with me and declared that we should make 200 more. Very simple and tasty.

Our dough didn't quite double in size but worked out great nonetheless.

Thanks for this great recipe, we will make them again!

Followed the recipe to the tee but found them a bit tough - not snappy/crunchy. Will try again though

Super easy to whip up to have with dips alongside the normal crudites - will definitely be making these again.

I made these last week for my super picky toddler after he reacted to the chemicals in the shop bought type.

He loved them and they were very easy to make.  My dough did not rise much although I gave it ample time.  They were very yummy.  Will make again as they are a good snack for my little boy who prefers crunchy food.

These were delicious and very moorish. I replaced an egg wash with olive oil and they still tasted great. Thanks for the recipe!
