Cake was a little too crumbly, but perhaps it's bc of my oven. Next time I will decrease the oven temp slightly to avoid drying out the cake. Great taste though.

Really liked this, thank you. I took most of the pith off, added a good splash of milk (probably 50g) and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. No icing or other topping necessary in my opinion. Took 60 minutes in my older oven.

Great, simple recipe. I used 3 small mandarins instead of an orange, reduced the sugar to 130g and added a bit of vanilla extract and a dash of almond milk (the batter looked a bit dry). I made muffins which took 20-25 mins to cook. Next time I'll add poppyseeds and I might try reducing the butter a bit too, 225g is a lot!

  • Whole orange cake: nice and
    Submitted by ronellem on 30. July 2016 - 18:31.

Whole orange cake: nice and easy to make.

I use 130 g sugar and add 30 ml milk. On occasion I have added choc chips on reverse blades, with great success.

    TIP

The texture is a bit dense, so I make castor sugar, then add all ingredients separately to beat in more air.

The cake freezes well, and becomes moist when kept for a day or two before eating (very tempting to eat it all in one go!)

    Submitted by shell15june on 26. July 2016 - 21:46.

Cake was a little more dense than what I was expecting - I thi k I was expecting something light and fluffy. I reduced the sugar also and added the 30g of milk.

It is very yummy though! I took it into my work and my work mates loved it!

I also added a juice out of another orange, mixed with some sugar for a little syrup for the top!

    So easy and delicious!

This has to the easiest cake to make, and the first time that I've ever had a whole orange cake.  Full of flavour and I didn't even put icing on it!

I didn't have a ringform tin so lined the cake tin with baking paper.  Cooked in 55 minutes.
