Just made this banana bread for the first time and turned out fine. I used gf flour and didn’t have any golden syrup so subbed like for like with maple syrup. I only had 2 over ripe banana’s. As gf flour can be a little drying, I reduced quantity by 10g. I was surprised by the simple ingredients and knew by quantities it was only going to be a small bread, so used a small bar tin. You could easily double the recipe for a larger tin. Bread turned out perfect 👌. Light and moist and had a nice rise. Tasted lovely, light and clean.
I was taken back by the negative comments and felt they are way too harsh. It is a bread recipe not a cake recipe and never claimed to be a cafe style banana bread. If you are after an everyday basic light banana bread to enjoy, give this one a go as it won’t disappoint. It will become a staple in our house. 🙂

I’ve made this recipe half a dozen times and it always turns out perfectly. It’s tasty, cooked all the way through and is my go to recipe for banana bread. Really delicious! It has a lot of negatives comments (which I didn’t read prior to making the first time) but I’ve never had a problem with it. It also doesn’t have that buttery taste so many banana breads have which is a plus for me .

This is definitely the worst recipe I have ever tried. It didn't rise and looked like a brick. It did look cooked on the outside but on slicing it the inside was completely doughy. I tasted it and it was shocking.
I honestly think this is a joke recipe someone has put on here just to mess with people.
I, like a lot of people, did not read the comments first but I definitely won't make that mistake again. Annoyed it was a waste of ingredients.

I wish I read the comments before trying this one. It was awful and rubbery also very dense and didn't rise

I made this then read the comments and thought oh no. I did it with 3 large bananas - slightly extra flour by accident and reduced the amount of sugar. I cooked at 180 for 45 mins and to be honest it doesn't look or feel pretty, it's a bit rubbery but it tastes ok! And it doesn't have a lot in it so it's probably slightly healthier then those that use a lot of butter. I did put a swipe of butter on it to eat it. I thought while reading comments I'd wasted the ingredients but I'm happy with it. And it's perfect for my daughter as a treat to pop in freezer and defrost occasionally - she also gobbled her slice up

Made an account just to comment that this is a terrible recipe. Banana bread never rose and still hasn't cooked properly after 45 minutes in the oven. What a waste of good food.

Made small banana bread muffins. Made with 'chia egg' and they were lovely and moist, very dense. Added some frozen blueberries to the top which were lovely and sweet.

THE WORST RECIPE EVER. I should have got my daughter to read these comments first before we wasted hours waiting for the stupid thing to cook. First it flopped and then it was mush. The person who posted this recipe really needs to fix it. What a disaster! Thanks for nothing.

Should be named worst ever
Should be named worst ever banana bread.. Sorry but i followed to the letter, did the chia version as i had no eggs - looked awesome taking out of oven but flopped to 3cm deep once cooled.. On cutting, it was goey on the bottom half but looked right texture top half - we ate it as a slice but was so embarrased after spouting how awesome the thermie is blah blah.. i think it probably needed more flour to offset the 3 bananas i added.. Wish i looked further than the rating & title..
Should have read other
Should have read other comments before wasting my child free time cooking this! made in muffins. Insides were doughy, raw, not cooked. Outside was like rubber. Unedible!!!!!!
not a fan of this. Thought
not a fan of this. Thought I'd try a different recipe - regretting that now. would need to modify this substantially for a nicer flavour. It's missing cinnamon, vanilla bean, brown sugar would give a nicer flavour.
What a waste of 3 bananas.

2nd time trying it and it is a big fail. Does't rise and very gooy
This was a disaster for me -
This was a disaster for me - waste of 3 bananas! After 45 mins it was still gooey inside so I kept adding 10miN increments... After 90 mins I was over it and the top was starting to brown very heavily. When it cooled I cut through the very tough shell to find the inside still a gooey mess. I followed to recipe to the letter. Not sure what went wrong but I found it odd there was only one egg and no butter, possibly more flour was needed too.
I made the chia version and
I made the chia version and it was a sticky dough inside (like others have experienced) even after extra cooking time. It ended up less than 1 inch thick. I followed recipe to the letter
Great recipe. quick and easy
Great recipe. quick and easy to do. I added a handful of walnuts with the flour though. will definately be making this again.

I'm new to egg free baking and have found this a good base recipe. I can add different spices, nuts etc and am currently baking an apple version instead of banana

I only had one banana, so I halved the recipe and also added a little vanilla.
The mix was too small for the loaf tin, so I made mini-muffins. The half-mix made 16 mini muffins. Kids and hubby loved them!
Fairly average Banana
Fairly average Banana Bread... Very dense. Even with egg, didnt rise that much.
As with others the egg free
As with others the egg free version deflated to about an inch thick in a loaf tin. I added cinnamon and vanilla to recipe. Flavour good but might try the egg version next time

Sorry this was a complete disaster for me too. Gooey, flat banana bread after 45mins. Nothing could save it. Had to go in the bin
A TOTAL FAIL!! Like
A TOTAL FAIL!! Like tracyhill mine was a total fail as well. Wasn't cooked after 30 minutes, so I added another 10 mins, then another 5 mins. Tested it, the knife came out clean, so I presumed it was cooked... I had a beautiful risen golden browned loaf.... until I took it out of the oven and it dived to an inch high with a gooey mess inside?? And yes I did use SR flour.....Chook food as my husband says! I followed the recipe exactly?? BUT I will try again!
The smell coming from my oven
The smell coming from my oven is amazing, just made this with 2lge bananas, reduced sugar to 80gms and added chopped dates and the chia (with the egg)! Can't wait to taste it!
