    Submitted by mk.stirling on 29. September 2019 - 09:22.

Just made this banana bread for the first time and turned out fine. I used gf flour and didn’t have any golden syrup so subbed like for like with maple syrup. I only had 2 over ripe banana’s. As gf flour can be a little drying, I reduced quantity by 10g. I was surprised by the simple ingredients and knew by quantities it was only going to be a small bread, so used a small bar tin. You could easily double the recipe for a larger tin. Bread turned out perfect 👌. Light and moist and had a nice rise. Tasted lovely, light and clean.

I was taken back by the negative comments and felt they are way too harsh. It is a bread recipe not a cake recipe and never claimed to be a cafe style banana bread. If you are after an everyday basic light banana bread to enjoy, give this one a go as it won’t disappoint. It will become a staple in our house. 🙂

I’ve made this recipe half a dozen times and it always turns out perfectly. It’s tasty, cooked all the way through and is my go to recipe for banana bread. Really delicious! It has a lot of negatives comments (which I didn’t read prior to making the first time) but I’ve never had a problem with it. It also doesn’t have that buttery taste so many banana breads have which is a plus for me .

    Submitted by cpaton17 on 13. May 2018 - 17:53.

This is definitely the worst recipe I have ever tried. It didn't rise and looked like a brick. It did look cooked on the outside but on slicing it the inside was completely doughy. I tasted it and it was shocking.
I honestly think this is a joke recipe someone has put on here just to mess with people.
I, like a lot of people, did not read the comments first but I definitely won't make that mistake again. Annoyed it was a waste of ingredients.

    Submitted by ConstancePaul on 25. September 2017 - 10:53.

I made this then read the comments and thought oh no. I did it with 3 large bananas - slightly extra flour by accident and reduced the amount of sugar. I cooked at 180 for 45 mins and to be honest it doesn't look or feel pretty, it's a bit rubbery but it tastes ok! And it doesn't have a lot in it so it's probably slightly healthier then those that use a lot of butter. I did put a swipe of butter on it to eat it. I thought while reading comments I'd wasted the ingredients but I'm happy with it. And it's perfect for my daughter as a treat to pop in freezer and defrost occasionally - she also gobbled her slice up

  • Should be named worst ever

    Submitted by Digsynat on 16. June 2016 - 22:59.

Should be named worst ever banana bread.. Sorry but i followed to the letter, did the chia version as i had no eggs - looked awesome taking out of oven but flopped to 3cm deep once cooled.. On cutting, it was goey on the bottom half but looked right texture top half - we ate it as a slice but was so embarrased after spouting how awesome the thermie is blah blah.. i think it probably needed more flour to offset the 3 bananas i added.. Wish i looked further than the rating & title..

not a fan of this. Thought I'd try a different recipe - regretting that now. would need to modify this substantially for a nicer flavour. It's missing cinnamon, vanilla bean, brown sugar would give a nicer flavour.

  • This was a disaster for me -

    Submitted by Fredric501 on 14. June 2015 - 11:22.

This was a disaster for me - waste of 3 bananas! After 45 mins it was still gooey inside so I kept adding 10miN increments... After 90 mins I was over it and the top was starting to brown very heavily. When it cooled I cut through the very tough shell to find the inside still a gooey mess. I followed to recipe to the letter. Not sure what went wrong but I found it odd there was only one egg and no butter, possibly more flour was needed too.

I only had one banana, so I halved the recipe and also added a little vanilla.

The mix was too small for the loaf tin, so I made mini-muffins. The half-mix made 16 mini muffins. Kids and hubby loved them!
