      Recipe is created for
      TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Tip

This recipe makes quite a large quantity of cake batter. The mixture appears quite runny; however, do not worry it cooks beautifully!

This cake really suits any occasion! I love to use it for birthday/baby shower cakes as it is always a crowd pleaser.

It freezes VERY well. So you can make in advance.

It is delicious with buttercream, fondant, ganache or even just sprinkled with icing sugar.

The 1st picture is iced with the buttercream made from the recipe chip. (I doubled the quantity - this freezes well too if you make too much). Another tip for this buttercream is to add a dash of coconut essence also.

Absolutely delicious & moist chocolate cake! Before I became a TM cook, I used to rely on Betty Crocker cake mixes & this cake turns out very much like one of them - rich & moist!

Great recipe, I was wondering about the amount of sugar in the recipe but the end result doesn't taste that sweet at all. i divided the batch into 2 cake tins and put them together with jam, cream and fresh fruit in the middle and on top, made it for a colleague 's birthday and everyone loved it. Will definitely use this recipe again.💕💕👍👍

    Submitted by Penny16K on 27. May 2018 - 20:10.

Best thermomix chocolate cake recipe I have tried. I used half cocoa powder half cacao (because I ran out of cocoa) so wasn't sure about cutting down the sugar but next time I would reduce a bit. I made a cake and 12 cupcakes (not so successfully) from the mixture.

I made an icing of 50g butter, 50g cream cheese, 40 g cacao, 75 ml water and 350g icing sugar, gradually increased to 4 and mixed for about 1 minute was delicious! The icing was just for the cake not enough for the cupcakes as well.

    Submitted by sissy68 on 21. February 2018 - 11:47.

This is one of the best chocolate cakes I have ever made and I can't believe how incredibly simple it was! I cut down the sugar to 360-370g and it was more than sweet enough. It makes a large cake and I served it with fresh cream and strawberries. A little hint, if you make it a day before serving it will taste even better.

This is my go to cake, everyone loves it, even those who aren't usually cake eaters. I just used it for a dolly vardin and it was the perfect amount for the tin. I did it at 150• for nearly two hours and used skewer to check. It turned out perfectly and was still moist. I've also done cupcakes and they were great too (approx 22min)

Love this recipe - it’s been a hit every time!

Has anyone had any success doubling the batch? If so, how long did you cook for and did you lower the temp? I’m making my son’s birthday cake tomorrow and need to make it in a large rectangle tin, so thought doubling the recipe might work.

Yum, So easy! Made this as a base for a black forest cake. I ended up using coconut oil instead of vegie as that is what I had on hand, turned out great! I used inside a 10" round pan and it rose enough for two smaller layers.

This recipe is amazing! I did a trial for my son's birthday coming up and used a large rectangle cake tin and it was the perfect size. I gave a lot of the cake away, as it was just a practice run, and all who tasted it said the cake was incredible, so moist and delicious! I can't wait to make it again for the party and I'm planning to make it again for friends just because. I've finally found a beautiful chocolate cake recipe which is super easy and cheap to make - thank you!!! tmrc_emoticons.)
