  • 500 grams Boiling water
  • 6 star anise
  • 650 grams sugar
  • 650 grams Self Raising Flour
  • 200 grams semolina
  • 210 grams sunflower oil, or other non flavoured oil
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 teaspoons tumeric

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    Method
  1. 1. Preheat oven to 180°C.  Grease & line a baking tray (28 x 44 cm) with baking paper.

    2. Soak star anise in the boiling water for 5-10 mins.  Disgaurd the star anise and keep the water.

    3. Add sugar & retained water, dissolve 2 min/60°C/sp 2.

    4. Add remaining ingredients, except sesame seeds.  Mix  20 sec/sp 6.

    5. Pour mixture into baking tray and sprinkle the top with sesame seeds.

    6. Bake for 30 mins or until skewer comes out clean.

    7. Allow to cool completely, slice and store in an air tight container.

    Very yummy cake!!  tmrc_emoticons.) I would probably reduce the amount of sugar but is def a great recipe and a great anti-inflammatory cake with turmeric tmrc_emoticons.;)
