Ingredients

12 portion(s)

  • 375 grams raw sugar
  • 280 grams flour plain
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 300 grams Milk
  • 20 grams oil, grapeseed oil is good as it has no flavour
  • 110 grams softened butter
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla Essence/Extract
  • 3 large eggs

Recipe's preparation

  1. pre-heat oven to 190 and line a 9 inch cake tin with baking paper (spray oil on tin then line with paper, the oil keeps it in place)

  2. place half of the sugar in the TM bowl and mill for 1-2 seconds on speed 9, add the rest of the sugar and again, mill for 1-2 seconds on speed 9

  3. add flour, baking powder and salt to bowl and mix for 6 seconds on speed 4

  4. add the milk, oil, butter and vanilla and combine for 15 seconds on speed 6. Scrape down bowl

  5. add the eggs and mix for 20 seconds on speed 5.

  6. pour into prepared tin and bake in the oven for 35 minutes or intil a skewer inserted into the cake comes out clean.

Tip

Using a cake collar around your tin will help your cake rise evenly and make sure it stays moist on the inside. i make one using an old teatowel that i wet down and rap in foil. wrap around the cake and secure with some bulldog clips.

    Hm...followed this recipe but in a matter of minutes the cake burned.  The batter was very liquid and runny.
