Low Carb Oopsie Bread

Print:
4

Ingredients

4 piece(s)

Oopsie Bread

  • 3 large eggs, separated
  • 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 95 grams cold cream cheese
5

Recipe's preparation

    Egg Whites
  1. Preheat Oven to 150.

Insert butterfly into TM bowl and leave MC off. Place egg whites and cream of tartar into bowl and whisk for 4 - 5 minutes at Speed 3 until egg whites are stiff. Make sure that egg whites are really stiff. Different egg sizes will determine the time spent on whisking these.

    Place this aside until later

  2. Egg Yolks
  3. Place egg yolks into TM Bowl as well as cream cheese. (no butterfly needed) Slowly turn to speed 4-5. Mix for approx 20 seconds or until combined.

  4. Combining the Egg Yolks & Egg Whites
  5. Pour the egg yolk mixture onto the egg white mixture and then gently fold into each other. Scoop piles onto greased baking sheet and cook for about 10-15 minutes. They will not expand so dont worry about them all fitting on the one tray.

Tip

You can add salt or sugar to suit the dish you are using this with. I made mine for breakfast to use as a bun, so I didnt add anything, but if i was going to use it as a substitute for pancakes then i would add a touch of sugar.

Ohhhh I wish I found these a long time ago! These are fabulous!  We drizzled a tiny bit of honey, then grilled mushroom, smoked salmon and poached eggs. Such a tasty, protein packed breaky!!! Yum!! I was wondering how long these keep for? I want to completely cut out bread from my diet but not sure if I can get around to making these every day (although it really only takes 20 mins max).

This is a really unusual but cool recipe! I really liked them. Added a bit of salt and had them savoury, topped with some butter. Thanks for sharing the recipe.. I appreciate something that us "low-carbers" can enjoy tmrc_emoticons.)

I wouldn't use Sweet Life (or Splendid or Equal) but that's cos I'm a whole foods gal.  If I was worried about carbs, I'd probably use stevia, or other natural sweetner.  Mybe I'd just forgo the sweetener in the dough/batter and just put a drizzle of maple syrup on afterwards...?

Submitted by vivilee aka Emilee Wong on 5. November 2011 - 02:11.

These are FANTASTIC! I thought it would be hard to find low carb food to make with the Thermomix, but I LOVE THESE! You HAVE to try them. They are fantastic as a replacement for pancakes, bread buns, tiramisu biscuits, cream puffs, pizza bases, birthday cake, paninis, pita bread, muffins and so much more! Please let me know what you think when you make them! oh and use Sweet Life instead of sugar!
