Tip

As the porridge sits it will become thicker.

If you prefer a finer texture, blend for 20 - 30 sec/speed 5 after cooking.

For a lactose / dairy free version, use water instead of milk.

To make a smaller quantity - use 40g rolled oats, 120g milk and 90g water. Reduce cooking time by 3 - 4 min.

This was so easy and yum. I also swapped the milk/water amounts and was fine. I added ground nuts and seeds with golden syrup. Yum, thank you

  • I'm sorry but I found this

    Submitted by julielou2412 on 10. August 2015 - 10:57.

I'm sorry but I found this recipe to be way too runny. . . . . . . That's  a lot of fluid ratio to oats?

I find in most porridge recipes, it's normally a 1:3 part ratio.

Super easy and lovely and creamy. I swap around the milk and water as I use full fat milk and it's still really creamy.

  • When I make this recipe,

When I make this recipe, there is a thin sticky film on the bottom of the bowl afterwards which is nearly impossible to clean off. Any suggestions what I'm doing wrong? I'm using quick oats.

  • I made this porridge this

    Submitted by Louisa1979 on 21. November 2013 - 10:05.

I made this porridge this morning for my daughter who loves it (I like it in winter!). Usually I don't have time to help, so she makes in on the stove - the result is a lot of mess on the stove and burnt milk on the bottom of my saucepan. Now I can make porridge for her whenever she wants as its so quick and easy and is a lot better than the stuff they put in microwaveaeble porridge. Easy, simple, a no brainer really!

  • This is so simple and so

    Submitted by McCubbinMama on 7. November 2013 - 19:20.

This is so simple and so tasty! We put a little more skim milk around the porridge In the bowl and sprinkle with a little raw sugar or honey and it's delicious, I feel so much better giving this to my 7yo daughter than the pre packaged rubbish I used to give her! Thanks for the recipe!
