I too am have this issue - perhaps a video would help demonstrating the correct way to fit the whisk?

Hi AnnieMac1

Thankyou for your post. Below are some tips for you and other users that may help with the butterfly whisk. These tips have been posted throughout different forums on this site, but understand these may have been missed by some users.

Place the Butterfly Whisk onto the blade.

Slightly turn it against the intended rotation of the blade. Turn the Butterfly Whisk anticlockwise to lock, if the blade is set to normal forward direction. It should be hooked under the blade now and it should not be possible to pull it off vertically.

Its ball-shaped end ensures that it can be removed easily. To remove the Butterfly whisk, hold the ball-shaped end and pull it out while turning it in both directions to release it from under the blade.

Do not add ingredients that might damage or block the butterfly whisk when it is attached to the blade and the motor is running. Make sure ingredients are not too large and the bowl is not overloaded. As per manufacturer’s instructions, do not use the Butterfly Whisk over speed 4, this will dislodge the Butterfly Whisk.

We hope this information helps. Please call 1800 004 838 if you require more immediate assistance.

Warm regards

Hello. We are also having the same problem. It might save your Customer Service Team some time and make this forum much more useful if you advised what the solution is. There must be a trick to attaching the whisk if there are so many having the same problem,
Thank you

I have been having the same problem since I bought my Thermomix in November 2016. It happens regardless of which bowl or butterfly whisk I use (I have 2 of each).

It all came to a head last Saturday night when the butterfly whisk got caught in the blades and caused my Thermomix to overload.

I have always followed instructions regarding installation of the butterfly whisk and yet this problem constantly occurs, especially when cooking meals like risotto or mashed potato.

I now have two damaged whisks and am very lucky not to have a damaged Thermomix (or at least I hope I don't).

I would appreciate some help with this.

Thanks, Rob

I have this issue with my whisk as well. I have had my thermo since December and nearly everytime I use the whisk it comes off during and I have to empy the bowl and reattach? Is this normal? Is there a special lock that I am missing?

I have had many issues with my whisk over the last 2 months, recently when making mashed potato I have had to empty the bowl at least twice during the cooking cycle. Due to the constant issue I now have a whisk that has sections that are broken and lots of incisions from the blades when it does get caught.

Please help me solve this issue as I have begun not to use the machine for recipes with the whisk.

Hi there,

its nice to know I'm not the only one. I have had the Thermomix for a year and after numerous tentatives I still have the same issue; the butterfly whisk comes off when I do mash potatoes or risotto or very much anytime I need it. It's very frustrating as I've to stop, empty the bowl in another bowl fix it and start again.

Very disappointing.

Hi there,Whilst beating egg whites with the butterfly whisk in they weren't fluffling up so I increased the speed a bit and it doesn't seem like it was locked in and the machine made a horrible sound as it came off in the mixing bowl, it appears that the blades had fun with the butterfly whisk and have broken it. My hubby looked online for a replacement but there seems to be nothing available. Could you please help?

Hi I am having problems with the butterfly whisk as well. It always comes off and today it was broken. I am very disappointed.

It was not safe right from the first use and now I am without it. Not happy!

i had my thermite for 2weeks and can't figure this whisk thing position out, no matter which way I put it in & twist clockwise it locks, I was told by my consultant to put it on the smaller gap but food was already in it & I couldn't see the blades, any other easier way to see if it installed correctly would be appreciated.

Ps just made lemon mirangue ( whisk required) just on completion flashing kept coming up...Reverse blade disabled... what does that mean? does it mean I had the whisk in wrong? Tia

Do you need to use the butterfly with chicken dishes? I see this a lot on the community recipies but am unsure why as there is a reverse and soft stir method

Hi Jen Jen 78

Also make sure when you are putting your butterfly whisk on it is going on the right part of the blades where the little indication mark is. Then make sure that you are turning it a little clock-wise to lock it in. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Cheers Zoey

thanks for the response, will give them a call

Cheers

Mine has done the same thing a couple of times and is damaged now, I actually would like to purchase a new one for TM5 but I cannot find them in the online store, how do I purchase a replacement?

Hi Jen Jen 78,

When inserting your butterfly whisk, please give it a little clock-wise twist to 'lock' it in.

I am I doing it wrong?

I am having an issue with my butterlfy whisk. Every time I use it for the mashed vegi, it comes off about four times. I am constantly having to take out the vegies and water and start again.

Where am I going wrong? When I put the whisk in and pull up, it is attached. I am at a loss Aw

Please help.

This is the second one I have had and both did the same thing.
