CHOCOLATE DATE AND ALMOND TORTE

Torte

  • 250 grams dark chocolate
  • 250 grams pitted dates
  • 250 grams Unblanched Almonds
  • 6 egg whites
  • 100 grams sugar

Recipe's preparation

    Chocolate, Almond and Date Torte
  1. Pre heat oven to 230 C


     


    Grind sugar for 3 sec, speed 9.  Set aside.


     


    Chop chocolate for 3 sec, speed 6.  Set aside.


    Chop almonds for 2 sec, speed 6.  Add to chopped chocolate.


    Chop dates for 7 sec on speed 6.  Add to almonds and chocolate.


     


    Wash and dry bowl well.  Place butterfly into bowl.  Add egg whites and beat for 3 to 5 min, at 50 degrees, speed 4 until egg whites form soft peaks. Slowly add sugar to egg whites over a 30 sec period (while still beating, speed 4)


     


    Add chocolate, almond and dates to egg and sugar mixture.  Mix 5 sec, counter-clockwise operationspeed 2


     


    Pour into a springform tin lined with baking paper.


     


    Bake at 230 C  for 10 min then reduce heat to 180 C for a further 40 min.


     


    Serve with whipped cream and fresh berries

This torte is best when served cold and is ideal for freezing to used at a later date

    Have made this twice its really delicious.  Need to keep an eye on it while cooking though as its easy to overcook.  But really worth it!
