Ingredients

30 piece(s)

  • 75 grams Cashews raw
  • 125 grams almonds
  • 80 grams coconut oil
  • 65 grams Coconut, (if shaved, blitz for a few seconds before adding other ingredients)
  • 200 grams medjool dates, pitted
  • 25 grams cocoa
5

Recipe's preparation

  1. 1. Line a slice tray with baking paper.

    2. Place cashews and almonds in the bowl 8 secs/sp 7 (to form almond meal consistency). Set aside.

2A. If using shaved coconut, place coconut in bowl and 3 secs/sp 7. Set aside. If using shredded or dessicated, skip this step and just add in step 4.

    3.  Place coconut oil in bowl and heat on 37deg/1min/sp 1.5. (time will depend on room temperature and solidity of oil - No need to heat in summer, maybe 2 mins in winter). It blends better if melted.

    4. Add Dates, coconut, Cocoa, nuts and process for 20 secs/sp 5.

    5. Empty mixture into tray and flatten to cover bottom evenly. Place in fridge or freezer until set. Cut into pieces with long knife.

Tip

If you love chocolate, this is serioiusly one of the best recipes I've tried. It tastes like coconut rough.

I was handed this recipe at a demo and I have no idea who's it is but it was far too good not to share. Everyone who trys this, makes it over and over as it's so quick and delicious.

Hazelnuts or other nuts can be  used instead of the nuts listed.

This recipe is paleo, sugar free, egg free, gluten free and delicious.

I prefer to use organic ingredients. I keep mine in the freezer but it can be kept in the fridge. I like mine in small pieces but you can make larger pieces (there will just be less).

5 mins preparation, 15 mins in freezer to set.

This recipe is sensational. Definitely a great alternative to real choc. I made it with dry roasted almonds instead of almonds and it really gave it that strong flavour. Love the idea from a fellow thermomixer about adding peppermint essence, I’ll try that next time. Thanks so much for posting and creating a healthy option x

I wanted to comment again to show my appreciation for this recipe. I’ve made it several times and it helps me avoid buying store bought chocolates which is amazing !!! I made it again today and added 1tsp peppermint extract for a choc mint flavour and it’s really nice not too strong I might even add a bit more next time Smile

  • A great replacement chocolate

    Submitted by ninanikolic@hotmail.com on 30. November 2015 - 15:10.

A great replacement chocolate snack. The only problem is that i feel so good about eating it i have twice as much! The only change that i made is to use cacao butter rather than coconut oil which i don't really like the taste of. The cacao butter also gives it a more chocolately taste.

I love this (hubby less so, but to each his own) tmrc_emoticons.). I used 30g coconut & only 40g coconut oil. I didn't really like it when I tasted it right out of the thermomix, but once it firmed up overnight in the fridge It was sooo tasty. The next time I make it I'll leave out the coconut altogether. Thanks for the recipe.

  • So delicious and easy, but

    Submitted by kkap on 10. October 2015 - 20:58.

So delicious and easy, but very hard to stop at one piece! I prefer this to protein balls as it saves me from having to roll all the little balls (yes I really am that lazy). I've made this twice now and I'll make it many times more. I've experimented with different nuts and dried fruits and they're all yum, so use what you have and you'll have a winner! I also make hot or iced chocolate after I finish to clean the bowl. Thanks so much for this brilliant recipe.

This is sooo yummy! i don't think it will last long in the fridge. I ran out of Coconut oil so only used 40g and 40g of water. Still tastes delicious and a little lighter on the calories.

    Submitted by healthy_bree on 3. August 2015 - 10:28.

Really yummy. I calculated the calories which would be 146cal 18F 10.7C 2.4P and thats when cutting the slice into 24 pieces. So dont eat too big of portions. U could cut down by using no coconut oil, use water instead and roll into balls.
