Recipe is created for
TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation
Place juice into TM bowl. Sprinkle gelatin on top, taking care to avoid the middle of the blades as much as possible (you don’t want a huge clump of gelatin in your mix).
Wait for the gelatin to seep into the juice. This can take a few minutes. Once absorbed, give the mixture a quick blitz to incorporate everything evenly for 5 sec/Sp 4. Scrape down sides.
Heat the liquid to melt the gelatin for 3 ½ mins/60ºC/Sp 2. In the last minute of heating add through the lid the rice malt syrup and vanilla extract.
Check mixture to make sure all the gelatin has melted. Dip your finger in the mixture and then rub it against your thumb, if the mixture is smooth it is ready to pour into, if it feels grainy, then it needs to be heated a little longer. I didn’t need to reheat my mixture.
A quick blitz to whizz everything up for 2 sec/Sp4.
A little trick I learnt many years ago was to place a small amount of oil on the inside of the moulds to help with releasing the items later. Silly me used coconut oil this first time around. It worked but it also solidified around the edges, which meant when I released the moulds, there was a little bit of residue. Not that this bothered me, but don’t have a brainfart like I did and use coconut oil if you want things looking FANCY.
Place mixture into moulds and set in the fridge for up to 2 hours.
Should keep in an airtight container in the fridge for about half a day until the kids find the stash, then you will have to make some more.
Here's how to make the magic happen.......

I had a fellow thermo user contact me about her joobies not setting. It turns out she was using Great Lakes Gelatine and it has properties in it to prevent it from setting. So please use the crappy supermarket brand gelatine for this recipe and not the expensive imported hippy stuff. You will find the recipe will work much better for you.
------------------------------------
I made these as an option for a sugarless lolly. It is not a hard lolly by any standards, more a firm jelly, which is why they are called joobies - like jubes.
These are also not very sweet, but they are sweet enough for me and my palate and diet requirements, hence the sugarfree aspect of them.
If you want more sweetness subsitute the rice malt syrup for something sweeter like agave syrup or honey, which are both waaaaaaaaay too sweet for me.
Someone asked the question 'how do I change the colour of the joobies?' Well the colour is different because I used different flavoured V8 juices. My orange coloured ones were orange/mango/passionfruit flavour, and the purple ones were forest fruit flavoured. Any flavour apart from pineapple would work. Pineapple has some mystical properties that don't react well with gelatin, it won't set.

I made these today with pureed mango and coconut water Mixed with some rice malt syrup and vanilla bean residue that had been leftover in the bowl from milling some vanilla beans. I kept the content to the 375g, like with using juice but the amount it made was 6 less moulds because of the thickness of the mixture.
I really like the taste, it still needed a bit of sweetness. But yet again, for my palate and dietary requirements, I don't need a lot of sugar.

My kids love these joobies. I make an easy version with lemon & ginger tea instead of juice. Thought it worth mentioning that mine set perfectly using GREAT LAKES GELATIN. Much better than the store bought stuff that usually has nasties added.

Dallas28. I did explain that they are not very sweet, as i cannot tolerate sweet things And i don't wish my kids to have too much sugar.
I use rice malt as it has a milder flavour. I do not cook with honey anymore. Try it with some sugar added in heating phase so it dissolves, maybe it will be more liken to your palate then.
Great lakes comes in 2 types.
Great lakes comes in 2 types. One sets like normal gelatine, the other doesn't (it's to mix into liquids and drink). Hippy stuff is fine as long as you've got the right version.
just made these. Super easy.
just made these. Super easy. I didn't have rice malt syrup so poured in some honey. I made the Orange/mango/passion fruit but could only taste honey, and it wasn't sweet. my kids won't eat them, so maybe I need to add sugar???

Mcjimster, that was my first experiment. Jelly and gelatine. It tasted foul, the texture was all wrong and not to mention my bowl was impossible to clean.
I like this recipe better. Tastes better too. Love the texture!

Juice Substitutes.
Instead of the juice, is it possible to substitute it with dissolved jelly..hence flavour/colour differences, and not add extra sugar?
