Tip
You can use any vegetables instead of or with corn - peas etc. It encourages kids to eat veggies!
You can vary the amount of milk depending on how runny you prefer the white sauce. Anything from 350g to 400g is fine. 350g is a bit less runny.
Be careful not to add too much lemon juice to mixture or it may curdle the mixture
Cooking the pasta on the stove top is optional it just speeds up the process and gets dinner on the table sooner!

I just noticed that I made a comment endorsing this as far back as 2013. This is still a go-to when I want to whip up something quick and easy and know it will be well received!
My husband rang me at work yesterday wanting to know if I had a basic pasta sauce recipe he could make in the thermo and I sent him the link to this and instructed him to omit the lemon, corn and tuna and add anything else he wanted to substitute it with instead. It was a winner.

Fantastic recipe that is super versatile. I made it dairy free as my son is allergic, I used soy milk and nuttelex butter and omitted the cheese. Worked amazingly. We didn't have macaroni so used 300g risoni instead and also used seeded mustard which gave a great taste. Will def be making it again and a perfect "no time" dinner! Thanks.

This is on a fortnightly rotation at our house, loved by all hubby, 5 yo and 15mo. We use half corn and half peas. Usually make the day before and reheat in microwave for a worknight dinner. Hubby adds sliced hard boiled egg to his. Usually do the baked version.
Easy and tasty. Loved by the whole family.

This was nice and easy, and delicious. I made it a gluten free recipe by substituting the flour for 40g of cornflour, and I used san remo gluten free pasta, and used spelt grain bread for the breadcrumbs (which is ok for some gluten intolerant people, but definiteltely not all - best to double check).
