Fantastic recipe which I've saved to my faves, thank you. I used beef bone broth instead of water and added some mushrooms and a couple of diced spuds which thickened the sauce. I shall definietely make this midweek winner again. Very happy.

I don't actually like stewed food but my husband does, so I made this after feeling guilty that all I make is stuff I like... And I actually loved it... So delicious and the dumplings soaked up a lot of the soupy part that I struggle the most with in stews. Thanks! tmrc_emoticons.)

A lovely, hearty meal. I used wholemeal spelt flour and added baking powder to help the dumplings rise. Cooked perfectly! I also added cornflour towards the end of cooking time to thicken the sauce slightly. Great recipe, thanks for sharing. Love

Thank you, this is a really delicious meal and hit the spot on this chilly winters night. I'd forgotten how much I love dumplings! I didn't have any tomato paste so reduced the water to 300ml and added a tin of diced tomato. I served it in bowls with dumplings on top and steamed green beans on the side tmrc_emoticons.)

Oh wow... this is the yummiest stew I have ever tasted.

I don't normally take photos of my food, but here is how it turned out, my first go trying it...

The dumplings were a little dry inside, but i'm guessing I made them too small... & I read the comments befroe cooking and added a little bit of cream & cornflour to thicken (at the dumpling cooking stage)

We'll be having this again soon for sure!

It was so yummy. I used frozen peas that were still frozen and thought that the last step wouldn't be long enough, so I added the peas at the step of cooking the dumplings tmrc_emoticons.) Perfectly cooked. I also added 300 grams of water and 300 grams of red wine tmrc_emoticons.)

I also use the dumbling recipe with other stews and soups too tmrc_emoticons.)

    Submitted by AmyZC on 29. March 2015 - 19:56.

Love this recipe!  And love that it's getting cold again here so I can break it out and cook it again!!  I find the sauce/juice quite runny... but this doesn't bother us as the light fluffy little dumplings soak up all the juice!!  Nom Nom Nom!!

This is my go to recipe for beef stew. I don't personally like the dumplings so I don't do them but the stew is really nice. I can use what I have in the fridge veggie wise and if I have lots of people, I chop in the Thermie and cook in large stockpot on the stove. A keeper.
