If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Tip

This curry is a mixture of several different curries that I have tried, in an attempt to find a butter chicken curry that is quick and easy, and enjoyed by the whole family.  I hope you like it as much as we do!

I cook this curry with the blades rotating forwards, because I like it if the chicken starts to shred.  If you don't want this to happen, then cook the curry on Reverse.

When serving, you might like to sprinkle with some extra roasted cashew nuts and fresh coriander.  We serve it with brown rice and roti...there is lots of sauce for dipping roti into!  tmrc_emoticons.)

Is even more delicious the next day!

Absolutely delicious, however my chicken was rather dry, might have cut it too small. Will try again another night but add the chicken a few minutes later

Vegetarian Alternative I omitted the chicken, added chopped mushroom and zucchini with the onion and cooked on reverse. I added steamed potato and pumpkin for the last cook. I used vegetable stock paste and fresh tomatoes instead of the tin. This will be my go to curry recipe now, loved it! Served with home made naan and mango chutney, followed by a mango lassie, yummo!!

This is a great quicker butter chicken, I have made it several times and added a few extra herbs that are in the 'skinnymixer' bc recipe, star anise etc, and it is great. Really yummy & feeds a crowd

  • It was nice enough but I felt

    Submitted by cavoodle on 21. February 2015 - 22:51.

It was nice enough but I felt it lacked the depth of flavour that Butter Chicken usually has. Wonder if it could be improved using fresh tomatoes instead of tinned, just a thought.

Delicious! This is a must try, it is so easy to make. I couldn't find fenugreek seeds but it still tasted very good without them.

    Very impressed!

I put half a teaspoon of chilli powder in as I like my curries a bit spicier but for a butter chicken i think the quarter teaspoon stated in the recipe would have been better. Lovely flavours. Really enjoyed it!!!

    Absolutely delicious. Thanks.

Will stay a favourite in our household!  Only problem is it states 8 portions, two of us devoured so much, we only have left overs for one more meal each.  Definitely a winner.

  • Awesome recipe! Thank you!

    Submitted by AmyFarmer on 19. January 2015 - 00:06.

Awesome recipe! Thank you! Simple, quick and delicious without being too aromatic. I left out the chilli as we have little kids and didn't have any fenugreek seeds, still delicious. My 9mth old, 2.5yr old and 4.5yr old gobbled theirs up (and so did my husband and I)!
