Tip
Nothing goes down better than a hot pie on a cold night. This mixture makes a lot - if there is too much filling for you, pop it in the freezer and take it out for another time. Or make individual pies and freeze the ones you don't eat. I didn't write down exact quantities, but anything goes with a pie...you can follow the basic method for any fillings really. You might want to alter the amount of water/cream you add at the end depending on how much sauce you want your pie to have.

This is delicious! I added mushrooms and only chopped for 3 seconds so the veg was a bit more chunky. I also cooked on reverse so the chicken stayed in cubes 🙂

5/5! Sensational chicken and vegetable pie. We usually serve with mash potato or rice and steamed broccoli and cauliflower. Absoultely tasty! Love the zucchini in this pie. It is a regular in our household and have been making it for a few years now. Thank you for sharing this recipe

delicious! even my fussy not-a-chicken-lover husband said it was good! thanks for the recipe. Like others, I didn't add the water; the mixture was wet enough for a pie without it.

This is the first time making this recipe and I have saved it to my collection.
this is a fantastic recipe and I cooked it without any variation apart from adding a few extra old veggies that needed to be used up in my fridge.
it was a bit runny so I added an extra 1/2 tablespoon of cornflour. This then made the perfect consistency for pies and the flavour was delicious.
it made so much that I made 14 individual pies and froze the rest of the filling which is the equivalent to one smaller family sized pie.
thanks - this recipe is a keeper!!

I love this recipe, thank you. I've made it so many times. I usually leave out the 250g of water - I find it has enough liquid without adding any water. I also just stir the frozen peas and corn into the sauce after it's cooked, that way they don't overcook and it helps cool down the mixture before I put it in the pastry.

I love this recipe! I alter it a little though. I add garlic powder in, add 100g streaky bacon, use 200ml of cream and only 100ml of water and use chicken stock instead of veg stock.

We all LOVED this recipe! Thank you! I too didn't add any water and will reduce the amount of cornflour when I make it next. Because I always go overboard with my vegies, I added mushrooms and broccoli, as well as some garlic, rosemary and ceyan pepper...delisous! Thank you again

Skirky: This has been on high rotation for us for a few years now too and I now omit the water completely and just use the cream as listed. Even then it's usually a bit watery and needs some extra cornflour. Such a delicious pie

I challenge myself to use leftovers. Made this with a white sauce that my husband had made to go with corned beef. Added more dijon mustard. Cooked at 100. Next time will cook on reverse speed as others have suggested.

I made a few flavour adjustments that other people have suggested. I’ve just finished cooking the actual mix and the flavours are beautiful. I haven’t made the pie yet. My biggest problem was that my Thermomix was badly burnt on the bottom. Has anyone else noticed this? Thinking about it I probably wouldn’t cook chicken and cream at such a high temperature on the stove so I don’t know why it is cooked on the Varoma temperature . Next time I will cook it at a lower temperature of say 100C and a little longer.

So delicious! I’ve made it many times and for personal taste; as we like a thick filling in this household, I know others have commented the filling is too runny, I did the following today:
no water, total of 200ml cream
added 3 cloves garlic at carrot stage
added about 8 mushrooms sliced at oil stage
added 1tsp curry powder, salt & pepper, 1tsp Dijon mustard, chopped up fresh parsley
extra 1tbsp cornflour
cooked at stir, on reverse at all stages

This was a hit in house, delicious. I followed other suggestions and used less water and a bit more cornflour and cream, (lactose free) and some dried thyme and marjoram. I did have burn marks on the bottom of my bowl as well and found that it was cooked before the 20mins. Will definitely make again but will lower temp and cook for less time.

I also had issues with the bottom of the bowl having burn marks on afterwards however.
(these came off with a bi-carb soda slurry so not a big deal...)

Absolutely delish! Fussy kids loved it, I used up all the ends of veg; carrots, parsnip, celery, mushroom and smoked chicken. To make dairy free I used Alpro cream (250ml) and only a splash of water. Cooked for 10 mins/100deg/sp1. Was superb!
Delicious Regards,

This is super tasty. However because I am dairy and gluten free, used coconut cream and used mashed potato. Used extra cornflour and extra chicken. Will definately make again. Hubby loved it.

I made this for the first time and made some changes -
* instead of onion, I used a leek
* used only 50g water
* used 200g cream
* 5tbs cornflour
* I used reverse when cooking the chicken so as to not shred the chicken
My daughter has Coeliac disease so instead of pastry, I put chicken mixture into individual ramekins and topped with mashed potato, topped with cheese and baked for 20 mintues or until cheese was melted and browned.
Absolutely a winner in our family, will definitely make again.

I've made this a few times now and it's a hit with everyone. As other people have suggested I use 90g of water (rather than 250g) and 5 tblsp of cornflour for a thicker sauce. I don't bother with a bottom for the pie, just pop on some puff pastry on the top... Delicious!!

Great pie. I followed the comments with more cream and less water and it turned out fab. I also added peas and corn to the bowl and cooked with the chicken. No issues with the bowl as per one of the comments. Have added this to my favorites list. Thanks for sharing 👍
