MAB77:when you need to replace sugar in meals, try using apple. I just add slices of apple to my recipe and it gives it that sweetness you need. When I make my spaghetti Bolognaise sauce, I add apple because the first time I made it my husband said it needed to be a bit sweeter. My son and I found it just fine. So the next time I added apple. You get so used to eating so much sugar in foods that you buy it's nice to make your own to eliminate as much as you can.

We used smoked paprika and substituted ham and bacon for the chorizo. Very yummy! Would probably only use half the chilli (or less) next time as it was very spicy.

Interested in making this, however I don't have any brown sugar, honey, maple syrup etc (we are weaning off sugar). What could I add instead or can I leave it out altogether?

Delicious. I used one can of borlotti beans and one can of chickpeas, and substituted the chorizo for leftover Christmas ham. Very yummy. Although a bit too spicy for my two year old so might leave out the chilli next time. Thanks for a great recipe!

Mmm, it's in Thermie now. Looks great. I used dried borlotti beans that I quick cooked first. Used hot cayenne pepper as I had no ground chilli, no parsley so I used fresh thyme.  With some soft ciabatta and a glass of crisp white - a fabulous lazy dinner thank you!
