If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

  1. Add onion to mixing bowl and chop 4 seconds / speed 5. Scrape down sides.

  2. Add olive oil to mixing bowl and saute 30 minutes / varoma / speed 1, MC off. At this step, we are looking for the onion to become soft and yellow and just about to start caramalising. Make sure to scrape down from time to time to ensure even cooking.

  3. Add beef and stir well using spatula to ensure the beef cubes are coated by the onion. Cook 30 minutes / 90 degree / Counter-clockwise operation / speed 1, MC on.

  4. Add paprika and cook 30 minutes / 90 degree / Counter-clockwise operation / Gentle stir setting. Then add tomato paste and cook 60minutes / 90 degree / Counter-clockwise operation / Gentle stir setting.

  5. Add rinsed sauerkraut and water to mixing bowl. Cook 15 minutes / 90 degree / Counter-clockwise operation / Gentle stir setting.

  6. Add cream and salt and cook 2 minutes / 90 degree / Counter-clockwise operation / Gentle stir setting.

    mopepe:

Maggi has plenty MSG. Glad my mum didn't allow it back in Germany. Can always add some good old broth powder, or Braggs all purpose seasoning.

Delicious! Worth the lengthy cooking steps! Sauercraut is delicious incorporated into the goulash. I finished mine off with buttermilk parsley dumplings in the oven.
