If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

I now put the veggies with the cornflour mix and they turn out perfectly. I would like to add more chicken as it is barely enough to feed my husband and I. Tonight I cut the chicken smaller and didn’t have a problem. I think I will try more chicken next time. Great recipe.

Thats what I was wondering, whether I could steam the veggies on top whilst the chicken is cooking.

  • This was really yummy, I

    Submitted by aliceamy on 2. May 2016 - 23:37.

This was really yummy, I didn't add the full amounts of honey and marmalade as suggested by others and still the sauce was really rich and tasty. I have made this twice so far and I think the trick is to leave the chicken in quite big pieces as it shredded slightly but in the end was a perfect size. The second time I made it I cut the chicken much smaller and it shred quite a lot more. Also lots of sauce so room to add in veggies. Thanks for the recipe it is a good one!

  • One hundred percent amazing!

One hundred percent amazing!  Loved every bit of it. Added two chillies, as we like spicy food! And saved the sauce (popped in the freezer) to do it all again real soon! tmrc_emoticons.)

    Ciao, Chopsuey!

  • Delish! I was a bit jubeous

    Submitted by Jessie-Maree on 10. July 2015 - 18:25.

    Delish!

I was a bit jubeous of the marmalade touch as i'm not a real marmalade fan, but put it in and it was  very yummy!  I only had whole chicken thighs so gave it a shot and put them in whole - never done such before - Came out absolutely fine - i did only cook 2 as our kids were away, so not sure that it would cope with a family load of thighs!  Thinking it would probably work fine with those small chicken nibble peices.

  • Liked the flavours, did not

Liked the flavours, did not add so much of sweet soy, or soy sauces and double the amount of chicken and it was great.  Thank you

  • This was nice, but very

    Submitted by Ellaleah on 29. March 2015 - 21:30.

This was nice, but very strong and very saucy.  I think next time I will reduce the sauce, or make with more chicken and potentially reduce some of the honey or sweet soy sauce as I personally found it a little sweet.  It was definitely worth making though.  Thanks!

  • Found this tasty but a bit

    Submitted by dinochick on 15. March 2015 - 21:48.

Found this tasty but a bit rich. I doubled the recipe which fed 4 adults and 5 children, althougb next time i might just do 1.5 times with the sauce. I used the butterfly also and had the chicken stayed nice and chunky. One of the kids has already requested this meal again.

  • We also found the sauce way

    Submitted by wendoree on 5. February 2015 - 21:34.

We also found the sauce way too rich. We used chicken thighs as suggested and they too shredded. Not sure if we'll make this again. I think it is unnecessary to have so many sugar based flavours i.e. honey, marmlade, kecap manis.

Made this last night. The flavors were very nice but found the sauce very rich and somewhat overpowering. Had anyone done a variation?

  • my family loved this recipe

    Submitted by smallpoppitts on 20. January 2015 - 21:14.

my family loved this recipe but I agree with the other comments - there was so much sauce.  I don't actually think the cornflour thickened my sauce at all.  The flavour was fabulous. I didn't have a problem with the chicken shredding but I tend to only have this issue if I use chicken breast.  I also steamed veggies in my varoma which the chicken was cooking.  I think next time I'll add extra chicken as my family all came back looking for more and it was all gone but the sauce!

  • Not sure what I did wrong,

    Submitted by Tuscany1 on 17. January 2015 - 23:54.

Not sure what I did wrong, the chicken shredded a little. Also I think the cooking time was too long. There was a lot of sauce. Favours were great though. Next time I'm going to try it on the stove.

  • Lovely tasting recipe. Easy

    Submitted by MissK8 on 28. November 2014 - 11:24.

Lovely tasting recipe. Easy to follow. However, I only needed 15mins to cook my chicken and next time I would reduce sauce by half as there was so much leftover. Also, after adding cornflour, I then placed varoma on top and steamed veggies. Worked perfectly. Thanks for sharing, will be a regular in our house tmrc_emoticons.)
