Recipe is created for
TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

OMG! This was incredible! Cooked a double batch in my TM5"Closed lid" . Fed 6 adults and got rave reviews...asked me to cook this again and keep this on rotation for dinner. Added Pak Choy and snowpeas when 5 mins left to cook. So yummy

This is so good!
A weekly request now.
I can't find Chinese 5 spice so just go back to basics with the individual spices and leave out fennel.
If not using good quality beef it needs to be cooked longer to make it really soft.
Yum!

A hit with the whole family! Thank you I have TM31 and used 600g thin beef strips and kept all other measurements the same - it fed 2A 2C with steamed vegies and rice spot on. Would have loved to use 1 tablespoon sambal oelek, but knew 7yo & 9yo hot-o-phobes would never eat it. Used 1 teaspoon and it had just a bit of kick - the one who declared it was too spicy continued to gobble it down with plenty of rice. They both licked their plates. Will be a regular in our house and so easy!!
This is the best recipe! So tasty, yet so easy !

I was very excited by this recipe and sadly it did not meet my expectations. I found the flavours were there but only just, it was quite dull in intensity, It lacked richness. I will definitely try it again and use it as a platform for a fuller flavoured dish. Some ground bean sauce and more hoisin sauce should do the trick.
a family Favourite!! Kids
a family Favourite!! Kids always go back for 2nds. This is the BEST Mongolian beef ever! so flavoursome. i only use 1 teaspoon of sambal oelek and find it has enough heat. I usually double the recipe for a family of 4-5.
OMG! This is SO delicious. We
OMG! This is SO delicious. We served it with a side of stir fry garlic vegies and steamed rice and our family of 4 devoured it with not a single bit left. As it does not show the time to cook, I went with 15mins as someone else suggested and it was good for my thinly sliced peice of beef fillet. It did mush slightly (even on reverse), but DD13, DD7 and I liked it that way whereas hubby would have preferred it a little chunkier. In fact, fussy eater Miss 7 said "Can we have this every night?!". Someone suggested the name should be changed as it's not a true Mongolian beef. Well, I'm not sure if that's true but hubby has suggested it be named "Wow Cow"! Lol
Amazing dish!
I'm sorry it doesn't say how
I'm sorry it doesn't say how many minutes to cook the meat lol
This is amazing. Even hubby
This is amazing. Even hubby loved it and he doesn't like many Asian dishes. I didnt have Tamari but used soy sauce instead and it was great. We ate it with steamed veg and rice.

Excited to give this a try
Excited to give this a try tomorrow. My daughter is peanut allergy. Anyone suggest a good substitute for the peanut oil
Just made this again, just as
Just made this again, just as good as first time, meat so tender and tasty even with only nine half an hour of marinating time and chuck steak, love it
I am sad to say that I have
I am sad to say that I have made this so many times now I hardly need to look at the recipe. The flavours are fantastic and I make it with beef, lamb and chicken. For the chicken I just mix it all together and stir fry it in the wok as it mixes it too well in the thermie.
Thanks.

My husband and i were not a fan of this recipe, sorry. I got so excited by all the reviews, but we both ended up having peanut butter sandwiches for dinner.
This was delicious. Thank you
This was delicious. Thank you for sharing. I didn't have Chinese 5 spice but used a chilli in the marinade instead. I also added snow peas and broccoli for the last five minutes of cooking. So yum. Will definitely make again.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhmazing!!!! I
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhmazing!!!! I used my bellini intelli and cooked for 15 mins where the cooking time is missing, and was cooked to perfection, i also used beef round steak as thats all i had in the freezer. teamed it with plain rice and loved every bite, maybe for those with small kids just use like 1 teaspoon of sambal oelek instead of the tablespoon as it was a bit spicy for my kids but i figure thats ok, more for the adults
Great flavour, lots of sauce.
Great flavour, lots of sauce. It thickened in the thermoserver whilst I was making Chinese Stirfryed Vege and Special Fried Rice to go with it for dinner. Definitely will be on my menu as a regular. Everyone loved it!

Loved this thank you!! Made this for dinner with some fried rice last night and it tasted just like chinese takeout. I have added it to my favourites so that it can be a regular in our house. Thanks heaps.
GREAT RECIPE I ADDED STRIPS
GREAT RECIPE I ADDED STRIPS OF CAPSICUM AND USED NORMAL SUGAR INSTEAD OF COCONUT SUGAR.
WILL MAKE AGAIN.
TEAMED IT WITH HONEY CHICKEN AND FRIED RICE
Just like Chinese takeaway.
Just like Chinese takeaway. Great flavour in sauce & meat so tender - doubled recipe and cooked meat for 8 min then stir + 3 min (if single batch, make it 6 min, stir + 2 mins). Cut up a cheap stewing beef into thin slices (like stir fry). Only marinated meat as long as it took me to get out all the other ingredients & prep, much less than 1h). Used hoisin sauce & no sambal oelek for kids, had cut fresh chilli on side to add during meal. Ample sauce to mix in veggies too - added steamed beans & capsicum too, although any steamed stir fry veg would be good. Thanks for sharing!
Great Mongolian Beef recipe.
Great Mongolian Beef recipe. Thank you. I used 800g rump steak and cooked for 20 mins.
Fantastic! Had a friend
Fantastic! Had a friend recommend this. Cut up a 500gm sirloin and cooked for 21 mins. Added a dash of Hoi sin after it cooked as I must have given a bit too much 5 spice. Cooked with Hokkien noodles and stir fried Asian vege in a wok. Really fresh and whole family loved it
Quite nice, but would use
Quite nice, but would use strips of beef next time, rather than cubes.

Absolutely delicious. I used only half the sambas oelek and it was perfect.
I cooked this for dinner
I cooked this for dinner tonight and my husband and I enjoyed it very much. My sauce was a little thin so I'll try and thicken it up next time I cook it. The beef was just lovely - very tender.
Edited to add that I cooked the beef for 20 minutes, as per previous suggestions.

You can find both ingredients
You can find both ingredients at coles etc. Chinese 5 spice is in the herbs and spices isle and sambal should be there with sweet chilli sauce etc or in the Asian section of the supermarket
