Cheesy Tuna Strudel

  • 2 sheets puff pastry, ready-made, Prepared or Rough Puff from EDC
  • 250 grams cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1 carrot, roughly cut
  • 3 shallots/spring onions, roughly cut
  • 100 grams cheddar or tasty cheese, cubed
  • 425 gram tin tuna, drained
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder

      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. Recipe's preparation

    Cheesy Tuna Strudel
  1. Pre-heat oven to 200 degrees. Line flat baking tray with baking paper
  2. Thaw ready-made Puff Pasty, if using. Slice each sheet in half to make 4 rectangles.
  3. Grate cheese for 3-5 secs, on speed 8, set aside
  4. Grate carrot and spring onions for 2-3 secs, on Speed 5
  5. Add softened cream cheese, curry powder, drained tuna, half the grated cheese, and mix for 10-20 secs,on Reverse, Speed 5
  6. Spread mixture on 2 Puff Pastry sheet halves, leaving a border.
  7. Top mixture with remaining cheese, place other half sheets on top to form 'pillows', pressing edges together to seal
  8. Slit the top of each pillow to allow steam to escape, brush with milk/water. Sprinkle with poppy seeds if desired.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes

    We love this... easy as. I use probably a tablespoon of keens curry powder. Didn't have spring onions so used a leek and used 3 sheets of pastry...

    Made this and it was very nice. I think a bit more chunk in ingredients might be nice and also added a layer of baby spinach before closing the pastry.

    I've just edited this to be 250gm block of Phili cheese coz I always end up using the whole lot, not the 125gm of the original recipe. I also use a whole tspn of curry powder.

    This is one of Miss 7's fave quick dinner meals
