Recipe's preparation

    Falafel Method
  1. Place dried chickpeas in a bowl & cover with water.   Leave overnight or up to 24 hours. Rince water 1-2 times.

Place onion, garlic, chili & parsley in thermomix, blitz speed 7 for 5 seconds

Add spices, pepper, salt,  3tbs flour, lemon juice & baking soda, mix speed 7 for 3-4 seconds

Drain chickpeas & add to bowl, mix speed 8 for 30 seconds, until it looks like a slightly chunky paste.   Scrape down sides & mix for additional 5 seconds speed 7

To check consistency, roll a teaspoon sized ball if the mix sticks together it's ok, although if it's too loose add another tablespoon or so of flour & mix for an additional 3 seconds.

These can either be shallow fried or oven baked for very similar results.

To shallow fry, add a good tablespoon of oil to pan & teaspoons of the mix cook for 3-5 mins each side until brown & crisp.

To oven bake, pour 2-3 tablespoons of oil into baking dish, add teaspoons of the mix & bake 25-30 mins until golden & crisp, turning once.

Great served with tzaziki, or chili sauce.
