Peel and chop potatoes and cut into chunks. Place into the bottom tray of the varoma and set aside.
Chop onions into quarters and place with garlic in the mixing bowl, chop 4 seconds / speed 6.
Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and cook varoma / 3 minutes / speed 2.
Roughly peel and chop carrot and zucchini and celery. Add to the Mixing bowl and blend 4 seconds / speed 6, or less if you want it chunkier.
Cook Varoma / 3 minutes / speed 2.
Add stock, soup, water, wine, lentils. Cook Varoma / 20 minutes / speed 2.
Place the varoma with the potatoes on top and let steam.
Preheat Oven - 180c.
Add mixed frozen vegies to the mixing bowl, replace Varoma and continue cooking on Varoma / 5 minutes / speed 2.
Once finished remove the potatoes and set aside (if they need another five minutes you can keep going).
Remove Mixing bowl and place contents into an oven proof dish.
Rinse the bowl and add the butterfly.
Add the potatoes, butter and milk. Mix 30 seconds / speed 4.
Add the potatoes to the dish with the filling, carefully in small scoops hoping it doesn't sink too much. Rough it up with a fork.

Place in oven at 180c for 20 minutes.
Let stand for 10 minutes prior to serving.

Tip
Don't worry if you don't precisely weigh and measure everything, this dish will still taste good with rough amounts. Improvise with fillings too!
Lazy Option: Add frozen potato gems (tater tots) on the top instead of mashed potato.

Wow, that is absolutely amazing. Thank you for the recipe. It will be on my weekly winter list. I used the normal size tin of soup and just swished a bit of water in it as per the comments.

Thank you for this recipe! I was missing a few ingredients so I made some substitutions.
I used sweet potato instead of zucchini, and green onion instead of celery. I didn't have lentils so I just added a can of mixed beans, and used diced tomatos instead of soup. Yum!

I've been using this recipe since early 2019 and I've been making it approx. once a week ever since! My husband and I LOVE it. I've gotten quite creative with this and often chuck in whatever seasonal vegetables I have sitting around. I usually use a whole can of lentils and extra veggies to balance it out (with the same water and wine ratio). It's always delicious! Thanks for creating it!

I have made this so many times, it is such a winner. My husband, father, myself and our 3 under 5 all inhale it every time. So many veges and flavours, and so yum!!

Very nice. I used brown lentils (not canned) A tin of diced tomatoes instead of the soup and no wine. I also did the 20 minutes on reverse. I'm wondering if some comments on it being sloppy could be because it should be cooked on reverse? Just a thought.
YUM surprised me with every bite - so delicious!!

I made this tonight for the first time and it is an absolute winner! I read all the comments first and decided to take the advice of not putting in a half can of water, I just splashed some water in to get out all the tomato and I will continue to do this as the consistency was perfect. I accidentally forgot to put the butterfly in (haven't had Thermomix for long and was the first time I had done mash potatoes) so when I noticed they were chunky I blitzed them more and they ended up quick thick and sticky but the dish was still amazing! Next time I will remember to put the butterfly in. I might play around with adding in some herbs and spices, it doesn't really need it but we like spices and have a lot.

Beautiful quick and easy. Did use passata sauce instead of soup and didn't add any extra water. Perfect consistency. Added grated parmesan to top of mash potato and grilled at the end of cook. this is a meal you could really add any vege from the fridge too. Our 9 year old smashed it.

Very nice, couldn't tell there wasn't any meat in it. All enjoyed it and I can put any leftover vege in, it would be nice with black beans instead of lentils.

Yummy. I love it and husband loves it. Kids tolerate it.
Did not add extra water but addd 20g extra lentils. Not sloppy at all.
Also I just add the mash on side of plate and add cheese. Makes it a bit quicker.

Made this for the first time.
Made it exactly as the recipe stated except didn't add the half a tin of water.
Still came out too sloppy - but tasted delicious.
Does anyone have a solution on how to keep it firm?

I've made this a few times for vegetarian friends and its always a hit. I don't add the 1/2 tin of water as I find the mixture is too runny with that and bubbles out all through my oven. A great way to get lentils into the kids diet

I made this twice, and got so many compliments. I made it vegan both times (added cheese for my non vegan friends on the top afterward), so instead fo milk I used soy milk and instead of butter I used an oive oil margarine and I added nutritional yeastfor a yummy flavour. I also added more milk in the mash to make it more creamy and easier to spread on the lentil base.
Top recipe!

Delicious option for our weekly vegetarian dinner....
Delicious option for our weekly vegetarian dinner. I read through reviews and did the following, which yielded a perfect consistency:
- didn't have a can of soup, so used 400g jar of passata
- added an extra 50g of lentils
- used only a little splash of 'rinsed water' from the jar (not a half can)
- didn't blitz the veggies for too long, the texture was perfect
- cooked with basket on (not MC)
I didnt realise the potatoes were meant to be steaming (in varoma) during cooking (instructions for this step are missing), but next time I will remind myself of this.
A new favourite. Thanks

Lovely recipe, whole family loves it. I cook it with the steaming basket on top instead of MC. You can sub any veg and a cup of frozen peas corn and carrots thrown in for the last 5 minutes is a nice addition.
