Caramel Slice

Ingredients

Base

  • 125 grams Butter
  • 60 grams almonds
  • 165 grams raw sugar
  • 150 grams plain flour

Caramel

  • 115 grams golden syrup
  • 125 grams Butter
  • 2 x 395g cans sweetened condensed milk

Chocolate Top

  • 200 grams chocolate, broken into pieces
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil

Recipe's preparation

    Base
  1. Preheat oven to 180°C

    Place almonds and sugar into TM bowl and mill 20 sec/speed 9.

    Add flour and combine 40 sec/speed 4. Set aside.

    Place butter into TM bowl and melt 40 sec/50°C/speed 4.

    Add almond, sugar and flour mix to TM bowl and

    combine 40 sec/speed 4.

    Press the mixture into a 20cm x 30cm tin lined with non-stick baking paper and bake for 15 minutes or until golden. Allow to cool.

  2. Caramel
  3. Place golden syrup, butter and sweetened condensed milk into TM bowl and heat 8 min/70°C/speed 3.

    Pour over the cooked base and bake for 20 minutes or until golden. Refrigerate until cold.

  4. Chocolate Top
  5. Place chocolate and vegetable oil into TM bowl 

    and melt 3-5 min/50°C/speed 3.

    Spread the chocolate mixture over the caramel and refrigerate for 2 hours or until set. Slice to serve.

    If you follow the recipe the caramel should set without a problem. Make sure the colour is golden when you take it out of the oven and maybe leave it cool in the fridge for a bit longer before adding the chocolate topping. I haven't tried doing this in my Thermomix yet but I have followed a recipe on the cadbury.com.au site.....page 5 of biscuits and slices( dark choc caramel slice) and it was perfect. Good luck!

    Soooo good another great recipe tried this week, a keeper to,  I changed the recipe I did a date and coconut base 2/3 golden syrup and 1 can condensed milk.  This was lovely.  Will do this again

    Delicious!!!! Much easier to do in the TM (rather than the old way of boiling the caramel). I used only one tin of condensed milk and they are scrummy!!!!! Need to padlock the fridge so I don't eat them all  tmrc_emoticons.)
