Ingredients

1 portion(s)

Cake

  • 130 g dates, Pitted
  • 2 eggs
  • 120 g unsalted butter
  • 190 g Self Raising Flour
  • 2 Large Overripe Bananas
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 50 g Milk
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla essence

Recipe's preparation

Now let's get on to it...
  1. Prep :

    a) Oven 160deg

    b) Crush baking paper into ball, and then open up and line into loaf tin. This is a truly lazy way ..oops, rustic way of doing it, if you're not too fussed about how the cake turns out.

    1. Bowl is dry n clean, when you pour in dates. Blitz dates 10 sec, Speed 10

    2. Throw in everything else, weighing in whatever needs to be weighed as you go. The sequence of ingredients does not matter.

    3. Mix 25seconds, Speed 5.

    4. Scrape down whatever's at the sides

    5. Final mix, 5-10 seconds, Speed 5.

    6. Pour everything into the loaf tin and chuck loaf tin into oven.

Within an hour, really.. an hour, stick a skewer to check if cake loaf is done. How? Skewer comes out clean. No bits stuck on it.

    Enjoy with some tea/coffee.

Tip

Washing your bowl after you are done.

1) Fill your bowl up with water, enough to cover blades.

2) 3 min, 60deg, speed 3.

3) once completed, turbo it, and rinse it out.

ALL CLEANED UP! YAY!

Disappointed with this recipe. I made 3 times hoping it improved however it sunk in size when cooled. I tried cooking it for longer however it didn’t make any difference. The flavor was nice, however it only ended up about 5cm tall.

    Submitted by Powellfamily on 19. September 2014 - 21:31.

Made this twice now (used to make non-Thermomix recipe before). Turned out great both times. I use wholemeal self raising flour and add a bit extra baking powder, use coconut oil instead of butter and one teaspoon of vanilla bean paste as that's all I have! Agree it may be a bit misleading saying sugar free due to dates and bananas. Thanks for an easy and delicious recipe tmrc_emoticons.-)

    Submitted by gorjusgem on 29. July 2014 - 10:57.

I make this cake all the time. My husband has an addiction to cakes and this one doesn't last long so I make it usually twice a week. I'm finding I even put dates instead of sugar in all the cakes I now make. Thank you so much for this recipe. tmrc_emoticons.)
