Healthy "Raw Cookie Dough" Bites for Back to School

Print:
4

Ingredients

10 piece(s)

Raw Cookie Dough

  • 100 g rolled oats
  • 1 banana, small and ripe
  • 20 g Maple syrup, or honey
  • 30 g Butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch cinnamon, optional
  • 50 g chocolate chips, milk, white or dark
5

Recipe's preparation

    Raw Cookie Dough
  1. Blitz the oats for 2 seconds at speed 6. Just to break them down a little.

  2. Add the rest of the ingredients, except the chocolate chips.

  3. Mix for 10 seconds at speed 4 to bring it all together.

  4. Add the chocolate chips and mix on stir (Gentle stir setting) for 10 seconds.

  5. Transfer to a container or bowl and leave in the fridge or bench for 10 minutes. You can shape them right away, but letting them rest gives it time for the mix to become less sticky. Make a cup of tea while you wait.

  6. Roll into balls.

  7. Pack as part of a balanced lunch. For smaller children 1 or 2 is enough, for older kids up to 3.

  8. Enjoy a few yourself with that cup of tea you made!

Tip

My granddaughter loves these and I tend to make a batch of these then my raw carrot cake pops at the same time to last a week of lunches. You could also just double the recipe.

    Submitted by ronellem on 27. June 2016 - 10:20.

Oats banana balls were delicious.I rolled them in desiccated coconut.

I substituted coconut oil for butter.

.I was disappointed in the amount of choc chips  for a healthy snack, so only gave 3 stars although the basis for this recipe is good.

I will omit choc chips next time and add, if anything, about 20 g of chopped dried fruit or nuts.

    Will also double the recipe.

Just made these. We really liked them. Definitely making again. We did 1.5 times the recipe and got 20. Will double next time. One big ripe banana was enough for 1.5 times. We also rolled in coconut as too sticky. Thanks for a good lunchbox treat.

My fussy eaters ate these tmrc_emoticons.) . I would definitely add the coconut next time. The banana over powered the taste. I did however roll the balls in coconut after reading the comments and it took a slight bit of the banana flavour back a notch. Thank you for this quick healthy snack.

    Submitted by Elliebird on 11. April 2014 - 15:02.

These are great and really yummy. I found they are easier to roll if you use semi defrosted banana and I also use latex gloves and they don't stick to your hands. Delicious!

I add 20-50 grams of desiccated coconut to mine as well usually. But I am not sure if coconut is allowed at a "nut free" school.
