Tip
For those of you having trouble with the chicken shredding it may be due to dicing it too small in the beginning. I generally dice it quite large (about 4cm x 4cm). I know when I dice it smaller it is a more shredded consitancy after cooking but the larger diced way doesn't have that problem. You could probably try it with the butterfly as well, that may help but I'm not sure.
Personally I like it either way, my kids much prefer it shredded so if it's just myself and them I will dice it small, if it's for other people I will dice it large. All tastes the same in the end.
Oh and if you want the sauce thicker you can not add the water, has a more syrupy sauce. (One of those happy accidents on busy night LOL) If I want to use noodles instead of rice I omit the water and it works quite well.
I also have found as long as you keep the ratio's the same you can put alot less honey & soy in, I like the strong flavours and having lots of sauce so prefer to put the full amount in.

Absolutely loved it. Sometimes it's hard to find the ratio for honey and soy, but this is delicious.

I read the comments beforehand, cut my chicken in to large pieces but it still shredded to a tuna like consistently. 🙁 I didn’t add any water but the end result was still very soup / stew like. Thank you for your recipe.

quick and easy!
i used the thick sweet soy sauce, less honey and 1/2 water quantity. Although next time I probably wouldn't use any water as half way through I added more cornflour. (I like thick sauces) definitely will make again
thanks
Nice flavour. This is a stew
Nice flavour. This is a stew with chinese flavours. I thought there was too much liquid. I didn't add the paprika, I didn't think it needed it. The chicken cooked perfectly, it didn't shred, probably because I cut the chicken into very large pieces. I had to add more cornflour because it was like soup. I added some hokkien noodles and took out some of the liquid. The end result was perfect. My only regret would be I didn't have any sesame seeds and they would have complemented the dish perfectly, especially if they were lightly toasted. Yum!
I made this without the water
I made this without the water as I was using the noodles. The soy sauce was overpowering and I think that reducing the quantities of soy and topping up with water would have been a good idea. Despite cutting the chicken into large pieces I only ended up with three good sized pieces at the end, the rest was shredded chicken. It was edible but I unfortunately won't be making this one again. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

I found dinner for tonight We are busy all afternoon after school until 5.30 so this looks like a quick and easy meal that everyone will eat.

We had this tonight and thought it was great. Ran out of soy sauce so used all the soy sauce types I had (light, sweet and normal) even tried to stuff it by adding custard powder to thicken he sauce instead of the cornflour in a similar packet! Still tasted good. We used capsicum both red and green, celery, carrot and green beans . The 7yr old is taking it to school for lunch tomorrow so it's a winner here. Thx
I really liked this recipe.
I really liked this recipe. Everyone in the family happily ate the meal I served up to them. I did add brussel sprouts & pumpkin into the mix. Also added about 1kg of chicken. Sure tasted good. Thanks for the great recipe

Simple steps to follow and yummy results... As mentioned previously, I would reduce the soy sauce to 100g otherwise very salty and reduce honey to 100g otherwise very sweet... would use half the amount of water too so it wasn't so runny! Chicken diced chunky worked fine and didn't shred much, also used the reverse function. Thanks for recipe

MC means measuring cup- the
MC means measuring cup- the small plastic cup that goes in the centre of the lid. The instruction means remove the measuring cup and put the steamer basket on the lid instead. This will allow for some evaporation while the steamer basket on top will stop any bits splashing out. It does take a while to get used to all the lingo!

Ok please excuse the newbie......
my hubby made this whilst I was at work. He didn't know what step 6 meant or MC ( main course ?????) meant. I am presuming the rice is to be poked in the basket ? So add water or in what liquid ?
Can someone clarify step 6 please. He cooked our rice in the rice cooker.

Tasty - but I definitely used the reverse function "Counter-clockwise operation" and still ended up with shredded chicken at the end (not cool). Next time, I'll put the chicken in the Varoma and just mix it through at the end.

Cooked this tonight for the kids (5 and 3 year old). They loved it! I reduced the soy sauce to 100g, honey to 120g and water to 150g, turned out delicious and made the house smell scrumptious!! I also added zucchini in with the onion and diced it up small so the kids wouldn't see it! Sneaky!! Highly recommend and will cook again! Thanks!

:)I cooked this last night
I cooked this last night and my partner and i enjoyed it. I took the advice of others and halved the quantities of water, soy and honey. I also used chicken thighs - which are tastier Those who had problems with the chicken being Schreded, need to make sure the blades are set to use the REVERSE mode. There is an icon in the recipe method that depicts this. An easy mistake to make - yep speaking from experience.
tasted great, kids loved it

My kids loved it (phew). I used half the honey though as we don't like things that sweet. Will make this again.
Is the chicken supposed to be so 'shredded', I'm new to TMX cooking and am not sure if I'm doing something wrong.
Thanks for the recipe.

I made this one tonight. I used a bit more chicken because I have a lot of mouths to feed but apart from that everything according to instructions. I did cook it a little bit longer because of the extra chcicken.
I think the sauce was a bit 'runnier' than I am used to, but that didn't matter.
It was a really great Asian taste and well worth cooking.
Hey this had real taste compared to the chicken tonight jar.
Good bye chicken tonight, hello Jan (my TMX).

I didn't have any fresh veg - so I used a large serving bag of microwave steamed veg. Heated them up and stirred them in at the end.
Hi Michellea & Rosie7,Nothing
Hi Michellea & Rosie7,Nothing goes in the steamer basket, it is to replace the MC (so put the basket on top with nothing in it). It means the sauce won't spit, but it will be able to let off steam, opposed to with the MC on.
Hi - as per Rosie7's
Hi - as per Rosie7's question, could you please specify what goes in the Steamer Basket? Is this referring to the 4 vegetables (which means they do not go in the TM bowl)? Would really love to try this for dinner tomorrow... Please help
