A lovely recipe when tweaked with other users comments. I have created a variation of this recipe to include those tweaks, making it easier for myself and others so we don't have to scroll through all the comments each time we make the recipe!! Made this tonight for the first time, was really impressed with the flavour and how easy it was to make. I didn't end up adding water as always find most recipes don't need it and added extra paprika. Thanks for an awesome meal.Smile

Yum, yum, yum! We ate it with mashed potatoes and steamed vegies and it was delicious. 1 tbls of sweet paprika was enough and I used a gravy casserole beef steak cut into 3cm x 3cm chunks. This will be made again! Thanks for sharing tmrc_emoticons.)

    Submitted by AJH85 on 24. May 2017 - 21:55.

I would rate this recipie 5/10, the above instructions are not clear.
I cut my mushrooms in half, didnt use water instead I used red wine. Added The mustard & worchshire as below comments.
only cooked my beef for last step for 15mins. The longer u cook the meat the tougher it goes.
add 2tbs of cornflour so the sauce is thicker as it makes alot of sauce.

overall it was delicious in the end.

cook fettuchini with our Beef Strog 😃

  • Great Straganoff!!! A hit

    Submitted by snskitchen on 21. July 2016 - 19:15.

Great Straganoff!!! A hit with the family! I cooked for an extra 10 min with an additional 2 tablespoons of  cornflour. I am curious to see if I can replace the sour cream with yogurt and lime/lemon juice as I usually don't have sour cream in the fridge and will serve yogurt and lime/lemon juice instead.

    Submitted by schachts on 9. June 2016 - 22:20.

The house smells delicious after cooking this!! I used carrots instead of mushrooms (have one that doesn't eat mushrooms), and added some worcester sauce and balsamic following others' suggestions, and just half a spoon of paprika and replaced water with white wine... Loved the taste of the sauce as it was cooking.. First time we've had stroganoff - super easy and kids really enjoyed it!

    Submitted by MrsBethCarroll89 on 29. May 2016 - 18:54.

Thank you so much for this fantastic recipe!

I made it for dinner tonight and it got my fussy hubby's approval! I have printed it and added it to my folder - it's a new favourite here!

One change I made was swapping the 1/4 cup water for 1/4 cup dry white wine and I only had about 200g sour cream, so made up the extra 100g with cream cheese. Garnished with parsley - yummo!

Really tasty and rich. I added dijon mustard and 1 tablespoon of cornflour and the consistency was great! Next time I think I will add worcesteshire sauce as well.

I served it with penne pasta which I wasnt a huge fan of, I think it needs a green vegetable to cut through the richness. Next time I will be serving it with either mash potato or rice and something green like beans or broccoli.
