18 portion(s)

  • 220 g rolled oats
  • 35 g Desiccated Coconut
  • 50 g milk chocolate
  • 50 g prunes or sultanas
  • 60 g raw sugar

Recipe's preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180˚C and line slice tray with baking paper. Place chocolate and prunes (if using) in blocks into the Thermomix bowl and roughly chop for 3 seconds on Speed 8. Add all dry ingredients into the bowl (oats, coconut, sugar, flour, sultanas (if using) and baking powder) and mix on Reverse for 5 seconds on Speed 3. Add oil, milk, golden syrup and egg into the bowl and mix on Reverse for 10 seconds on Speed 3. Spoon out into prepared museli bar form or slice pan and press mixture into pan.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the top is golden. If in slice pan, allow slice to stand in pan for 15 minutes before moving to a wire rack to cool. If using a slice pan, cut into pieces and store in an air tight container.

I found this to be too dry, followed recipe to a tee but I would have to add more oil or another egg next time to make moist. Kids didn't like it, so I guess I'll be eating it for a while now! 😬 I will give the recipe another go though with this in mind.

  • Great thanks.  After reading

    Submitted by bjajun on 15. May 2016 - 16:24.

Great thanks.  After reading other comments I added an extra egg to the mixture.  Turned out softer than a traditional muesli bar but everyone certainly loved it regardless and it was not dry at all.

More of a slice than a museli bar but still easy to pack in lunchboxes and the whole family loved them. I will be making them again (and again and again...)  Thank you!!

Super quick easy and yummy. I used a fruit muesli as didn't have plain oats. I also used coconut milk and only 20g sugar - could easily drop it all together. Thank you  Cooking 1

It takes more effort to drive to the shops and buy muesli bars than it takes to make these. Excellent lunch box treat.

  • You could use a light

    Submitted by michellez on 3. October 2013 - 22:07.

You could use a light vegetable oil, I wouldn't use olive as it has a strong flavour. I've just started using grape seed oil for most of my baking now. Ie muffins, biscuits etc...
