  • 1 tablespoon canola or vegetable oil
  • 1 Kg chicken thighs cubed
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 medium onion, peeled and quartered
  • 3 tablespoons Tandoori paste*
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/2 can Crushed tomatos
  • 1 can carnation light and creamy evaporated milk**
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar

Recipe's preparation

    Butter Chicken
  1. Add onion & garlic to TMX bowl & mince for 7 seconds on speed 3.

    2. Scrape down sides & saute at 60 degrees,Counter-clockwise operation speed 1, for approx 2-3 min.

    3. Add chicken & Tandoori paste, Counter-clockwise operation speed 1 or 2 for approx 10 seconds or until meat is covered in paste.

    4. Add all remaining ingredients and cook for 18 min, Counter-clockwise operation speed1 at 100 degrees.

Tip

* If you require this recipe to be mild use Pataks brand Tandoori paste, if you like it to be a little hotter use Sharwoods brand Tandoori paste.

** Do not overheat once the milk is added as it can split. It will not taste any different but will not look as nice.

*** This recipe is so simple to adjust to your own taste and quantity. Once you have made it a few times the quantities will be approximate & altered to your own liking.

Serve with steamed rice, corriander, Naan bread and or Pappadams

    Delicious butter chicken! I use a Thermomix recipe tandoori paste for this and it's a winner! Any leftovers also refridgerate and freeze well too. Thanks for the recipe.

    Hi Aimee, thanks for trying the recipe. I have added some comment in regard to making the sauce thicker. Try it and see how you go.

    To make it creamier, I guess there are a few options available. I have tried using coconut milk in lieu of carnation milk, that did work but changed the flavour completely, still very nice though. I guess another option would be to use natural yoghut in place of the milk, however I think that sauce would require thickening up.

    Thank you all for your comments. I have adapted this recipe from a traditional non thermie version.

    This is the first recipe I have added and after I added it then cooked it again myself I thought it may need to be re written. I am glad you all succeded and enjoyed it. I guess the recipe is a little forgiving.

    I enjoy a lot of sauce, thick or thin. A good reason to clean the bowl up with some naan bread or similar. 

    If you reduce the amount of milk you effectively reduce the amount of sauce. To thicken the sauce, a little cornflour & water at the end & cooked a little longer will work. tmrc_emoticons.)
