Great meal to use up simple ingredients.

I used a small brown onion and a spring onion, 1 shank and 3 neck chops, and the whole tin of tomatoes with less water.
Boiled water makes the cooking time quicker. Shank was slightly undercooked when cutting meat off adding to the mix but it finished in the bowl

    I’ll make it again

  • The risotto was excellent,

    Submitted by SusanNZ on 3. July 2016 - 12:16.

The risotto was excellent, but the lamb shanks took forever to steam (they were large ones).  Next time I'll either buy smaller shanks or do more cuts through the meat to the bone.  I added some mushrooms as well.  I also used beef stock rather than vege stock paste.

  • Are you serving it as a side

    Submitted by Fordgirl on 15. February 2016 - 23:15.

Are you serving it as a side or a meal?

I've served a family of 4 and had leftovers, also used as a side for a few nights with leftovers. It makes 2 litres.

  • first time i've cooked shanks

Submitted by Meegs Rea on 10. June 2015 - 22:10.

first time i've cooked shanks in the thermie.. very easy and tasty. Will def make again. I substituted pumpkin for sweet potato and will add a few more veggies such as  mushies and zucchini next time. May also reduce the liquid a touch when adding the alborio rice. i would also reduce the amount of time for the lamb a bit as wel - 27 mins maybe?  wasn't as tender as i would have liked, but still lovely.. Loved the flavour and will make again. Thanks for posting tmrc_emoticons.)

    Submitted by Kado on 6. May 2014 - 19:51.

    Delicious!

i didn't realise that the cooking time was so long, so we ate a bit later than expected tonight. But, it was worth the wait! The flavours in this were fabulous.

i added extra meat to ours to bulk it up and also added pumpkin in with the carrot & sweet potato.

  • Thumbs up from everyone! No

    Submitted by tezza65 on 13. April 2014 - 19:21.

    Thumbs up from everyone!

No lamb shanks at the shop so swapped for a flavoured butterflied lamb shoulder (Woolworths Macro Organic Greek Style Lamb Shoulder).  Only put 500g in though, and left out the rosemary.

    Served 4 adults.
