Unfortunately I won't make this again. I didn't add pasta but followed the recipe exactly. The mornay mixture was so runny it was like soup. I had to pour it into a saucepan and fix it by mixing up a roux of butter and flour to thicken it. It tasted fine, but, in future I'll just stick to doing it on the stove top.

I found this tuna mornay a bit dry but very nice nethertheless. I put it in the oven with some breadcrumbs and cheese. You need a big oven dish. Mine was 36 x 26 and 7cm high. I initially put the whole lot in a dish which was too small. Hope others don't make my mistake.

Great meal a favourite of my family's. I always cook my pasta in the thermoserver with boiling water, cover and leave to stand while you make the sauce. I pop the moray and pasta in the oven topping with breadcrumbs and cheese! Delicious!

I learned to make an “all in” cheese sauce on the stove top and thought that was easy, but this makes it even more so.
I’m grateful for the comments, otherwise I’d have thrown in raw pasta!
i agree, recipe should be updated to specify cooked pasta

Just made this for dinner tonight, I didn’t add cheese and added veggies (zuchini and carrot with the onion) and broccoli and cauliflower (chopped small) at the last cook mark. Didn’t cook pasta as per previous comments says it doesn’t cook, had ours with rice instead.
Very easy very yumm, does require seasoning but that’s personal taste, will definitely make again

Sauce is nice and pretty much the same I would make in a pot, but clearly the pasta does not cook in this recipe! I wish I had of read the comments first and I will from now on, but the writer should change the recipe.

Is there anyway to save this dish if you have push uncooked pasta in it. It was too good to be true! I probably should have read the comments first!

An absolute favourite in our house. Such an easy recipe. Always do the pasta on the stove, then add to the sauce in the thermosaver.

Great flavour. Only feedback is recipe could include more detail to help - i.e. seems you need to use cooked pasta? and if so be careful not to increase the speed too much when mixing at the end (the last bit seems like commonsense I know but I still recked my dish doing this).
I found the soft stir was not enough so I increased the speed and by the time it was mixed the texture had gone and I had a pile of mush - beautiful tasting mush but still not quite what I wanted. Probably had too much pasta. I will stir through myself out of thermomix next time to keep the pasta whole. Thankfully I used cooked pasta so did not have the problem of raw pasta metioned by others.

I made this last night and it was a big hit with my kids. I made the sauce earlier on in the day and then cooked the pasta later on and just stirred the two together. I sprinkled cheese on top and then baked until hot.
Thanks
I have tried a number of
I have tried a number of variations of this recipe especially trying to solve the pasta issue and I have found the best option is to simply cook the pasta first and add it at the end. I wish I had read the comments before my first batch as I ended up cooking it for nearly an hour before the pasta was cooked and even adding the extra water as suggested by someone did help but still I had to cook it for tripple the time.
I also found soft stir wasn't enough and bumped it up to spped 4 "Counter-clockwise operation"
My variation is at http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/main-dishes-fish-recipes/basic-tuna-mornay-pasta/351164
I also have added some nutmeg and paprika as suggested by melanie-jade
If you want to cook the pasta
If you want to cook the pasta in the TM with the sauce (less dishes!) add double the amount of boiled water in step 4 I.e. for 300gms pasta add 600gms of boiled water. Stir with spatula to ensure pasta is covered with sauce/liquid then cook for 15-17 minutes. I only had 250gms of pasta so added 500gms of boiled water (or 2 cups). Worked perfectly.
Very quick, easy Friday night
Very quick, easy Friday night meal. I cooked pasta separately and mixed through sauce. I added half a zucchini with the onion and garlic, and some nutmeg, paprika and veggie stock paste when cooking the sauce. Quicker than takeaway, and ingredients are all on hand even when the fridge and cupboards are practically bare!

PASTA does not cook. I kept adding extra time and after a very long time it did cook. But would have been better and so much quicker to cook on the stove. Yummy sauce but I recommend NOT cooking pasta with the mornay in tm.

I wish I had of read the comments BEFORE I tried this recipe. Pasta didn't cook so threw the whole lot out. Perhaps the poster can modify the recipe so this doesn't continue to happen?

I agree pasta should be removed, however, 'waste of time and money' is a little over the top. These recipes are from regular people, offering their suggestions on meals. I know you're probably perfect in all that you do, however, a simple "the recipe didn't work with the pasta when I tried, I think next time I'll cook the pasta seperate and mix in at the end" might have sufficed... just a suggestion for your future comments

Simply, Easy, Quick and tasty. I Added the pasta and i have cooked it with brown rice as well.
This recipe does NOT work
This recipe does NOT work with 300g of dry pasta. Perhaps the person that wrote it meant cooked pasta and it would be fine made without pasta. Had to add about 300mL water and cook for longer to make it remotely edible for my hungry 3 year old. A waste of time and ingredients. Remainder ended up in the bin. Not happy

This is a regular in our house, though I cook the pasta in a saucepan whilst the sauce is cooking. Sometimes I add extra veges and just sauté them with the onion at the start.
Second time making using this
Second time making using this recipe this time cooked the pasta first in the themoserver and so much better. The chicken version sounds good will do that next time. Both times I cooked on 90 and for few minutes longer as I find at 100 milk burns to bottom of bowl. Added mushroom aswell
DON'T COOK THE PASTA IN THE
DON'T COOK THE PASTA IN THE BOWL WITH THE SAUCE! The sauce was too thick to add tuna and pasta to, and wouldn't stir. I even added an extra 250ml of milk, but I had to turn up the speed for it to mix properly and then of course the pasta got chopped up. Result - a thick, gluggy, flavourless mess - it needed salt and parmesan cheese. Hubby wouldn't finish his and refuses to take the leftovers for lunch. I need a dog!
Great recipe when cooking
Great recipe when cooking pasta separately. Instead of peas and corn I put in a small head of broccoli, 1 small carrot and zucchini with onion at beginning, then sautéed using the 50g of butter for 5-6 mins. Followed rest of recipe but added 1 tbsp veg stock paste and a bit of grated nutmeg, then stirred the lot through a packet of cooked pasta spirals. I also used mustard powder.
Thanks, this was lovely. I
Thanks, this was lovely. I added in some olive oil and curry powder when sautéing the onions and garlic. I used rice flour and rice milk and omitted the cheese as we are dairy free. I also added in a can of drained pineapple pieces when adding the tuna and veggies. I cooked the pasta separately. Was enjoyed by all!
Very delicious, Hubby wanted
Very delicious, Hubby wanted second helping. In step 4, I used Speed "Counter-clockwise operation" 2.5 - 3, as the tuna was too heavy for "Gentle stir setting" to mix it well
So I ended up with RAw pasta.
So I ended up with RAw pasta. Trying to cook longer. I'm guessing recipe is meant for cooked pasta but doesn't mention to cook first. Easy fix in the recipe. Cook pasta first and keep warm while you cook sauce. Shame. It's very tasty otherwise.

Great and easy tuna mornay.
Great and easy tuna mornay. The pasta however did not cook. I put it on for an extra 10 minutes then some was cooked and others not. At the end I read more comments and realised the solution to this problem was to add hot water and then cook. I will cook the pasta seperately next time, which will resolve this issue and also be more time efficient. Overall though a good dish.
