Really yum sauce! Based on other reviews I reduced the sugar to just over half. It wasn't the right time of year for plums so just added an extra apple, also added half a capsicum and 1 red chilli. Delicious!

Love this sauce. Last time I made it I used tinned whole tomatoes as fresh ones were expensive. Also had no plums so I used about 8 frozen cherries and thawed them first. Just as good.

Can this sauce be stored in a bottle or is it better suited to a jar. I would prefer to use a bottle. And can anyone say how much liquid this makes. Thanks

So yummy! Made a 1/4 of the recipe as didn't want to make too much and had just enough to spread over a large homemade pizza base. Will be making this again. I subbed medjool dates for the plums and golden syrup for the treacle. Gorgeous flavour.

I made this today, it tastes amazing, I can't wait to use it!
I have made this to go with
I have made this to go with pulled pork. Really tasty. I made a few substitutes such as a handful of dates instead of plums, puréed Apple, golden syrup instead of treacle and I added a small capsicum at the beginning - sweet but yum. It made 2 jars! Thanks - it should be yum on a pizza base too.
Made this a number of times.

Great sauce! The best I have found so far. I added 4 plums, halved the sugar and added 1 tbsp tobasco sauce. I would definitely not subtitute maple syrup for treacle.

When the recipe asks for
When the recipe asks for treacle, is it Black Treacle or Golden Syrup? Both are sometimes referred to as treacle in the UK. Very confusing I know, but that's the English language for you!
I have not eaten sauce for a
I have not eaten sauce for a years as I don't want all those preservatives & additives so thought to give this one a try. Am really pleased with the taste & texture although may cut the sugar down a bit next time & it makes me realise just how much I miss my mum's home made sauces. Looks like there will lots more sauce making in Martha from now on
