    Submitted by Purplerain on 19. July 2014 - 17:26.

Made a very large teddy bear cake. This is an extremely light cake. I made Tracey Purdy's choc icing (halved recipe), added 100ml cream and whipped with butterfly for another 15 sec, made a mousse choc icing, it was a lovely combination with this cake. Will be making frequently, thanks.

Could you make this without the coffee? Just use hot water? Or a hot chocolate/cocoa mix? Don't really want to give a bunch of two year olds a caffeine hit!

    Submitted by kirstbaby on 11. March 2013 - 09:57.

Oh. My. God.  This cake is AWESOME!  Exactly how I like my chocolate cakes to be!  I have never found a recipe that has actually made it!  It is very moist and dense.  As others have said the mixture is very runny and it takes AGES to cook - definitely an hour.  I was a bit concerned that I had made a mistake and it wasn't going to work, but it did!  SO well.  I think i may have to make it again tomorrow as the first one I made yesterday was for a friend's birthday.  I think I am her new best friend now!  tmrc_emoticons.;)

Oh. My. God. I think I just saw the chocolate god because this was so easy, made so quickly and therefore ready when you really need that chocolate hit... Don't worry if the mixture appears too runny, that's correct. And yes, I'd agree that cooking time is an hour but keep checking from 45 minutes if you're worried. Delicious!

This worked a treat tmrc_emoticons.) very moist and a great flavour.  It is a really runny mix and I thought it wouldn't work but it proved me wrong.  It took an hour to bake and rose well. Again it was a large cake..which is good 'cause it has proved popular with the mob who are intent on taste testing!!
