Finally made this today...don't know why I was so lazy and waited so long.  Fantastic!

Worked for me with rapadura. Awesome, thanks.

For those who want fructose free Rice Malt Syrup works great! Use same amount as sugar. Now I can make my kids favorite cookies.

Fantastic - thank you.  I was making a cheesecake - had made my base and was then getting ingredients out for middle when I noticed I didn't have a can on condensed milk!.  But alas - I jumped online and found your recipe which worked out so good.

This so easy and so yummy Smile.  Maybe too yummy as hubby ate the rest of last lot of condensed milk I made Smile.

Believe it, Achieve it.

i would not leave more than a couple of days... hey thermy is sooo qyick use the left over to make choc fruit balls or something, just add chopped dried fruit, choic bits and a bit of melted coconut oil and make some balls to freeze for unexpected guests Smile

Just wondering how long this would last?  I tend to open a tin and leave it in the fridge (not saying how long, I'm really bad), but it still always seems OK.  Is it the same with home made recipe?

Thanks.

Good idea, can you let us know if it works... Paleo version .. FAB  Smile

Could you substitute the white sugar for coconut sugar in this? Will probably just try it anyway but thought i'd check if anyone knows if it'd work first lol

Great idea... Don't you love tweaking. Smile

Love this recipe! I make it often (too often, ha!) and use rapadura. I now regularly use half the amount of sugar with great results! Thank you Maryanne Smile

Love this recipe!

Subsitute for powdered milk? A number of people have asked what can be used to subsitute the milk powder. I agree, I don't think powdered milk is that healthy. There is another Condensed Milk recipe on this forum without using powdered milk. But, this is a good start for people wanting to make things from scratch. I'd take it one step further and subsitute the powdered milk for real whole-food ingredient (i.e. real fresh milk). If anyone has tried it with real milk, please post a feedback, how much was used & how long to cook, etc. Thanks.

Cool awesome

Love being able to make this at home and no longer buy. I used raw sugar as we didn't have any white.

Hi, I just made this for the first time, I haven't cooked with it yet, but it looks good. I made it with skim milk and used white sugar, but will give the raw sugar a go next time, I am looking for a light version given that I'm on weight watchers...lol. Thankyou for a recipe, is there anything you can't make in the TM????

This is a great recipie! I used skim milk powder and raw sugar as that's what I had and it still worked a treat! Worked out to be the same amount as a tin! I will be making again (I did already actually).

Do you need to use the MC for this recipe or leave it off? Thanks!

I added 20% cooking time for my double batch.

Hey guys, just wondering how long you have to cook for when you did double batches? Same amount of time? Thanks I'm very keen to try making this :)

Hi Maryanne Smile We only have raw sugar in the house too! I only mentioned it in my comments as the recipe specifically stated white sugar so I was pleased that it worked out with raw, I'm always worried if I substitute ingredients that I'll stuff the recipe up!

Big smile

I made a double batch, mostly raw sugar and some brown sugar as that is all I had left, and it turned out perfectly! Thanks! now fudge is calling!!!

HI Tiffany I only ever use raw sugar here... what else is there...  I only used white for the purests but I always make it with raw!

I just made this and am stunned at how easy it was and how brilliantly it turned out! I it wrong that I've been drinking it while it's been cooling down?!! Soooo good. As well as making it 'cos I can, I'm thrilled to be able to make it because I don't buy anything made by Nestlé so yes, giving them a run for their money is a good thing!

I used raw sugar (all I had) and skim milk powder and it worked perfectly.

Thanks for the recipe Smile . I'm a thermie newbie, is there a way if omitting the butter to make condensed milk do you know?

Fair enough!  Just so long as there isn't nasties in the canned stuff that I wasn't aware of. Smile

Made a double batch last week using skim milk powder, because that's what I had. It was really easy to make. It was perfect for jelly slice and a batch of choc rum balls that I made. Xmas slice making just got a whole lot cheaper! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks to everyone for all the feedback... sooo cool! I love it... give Nestle a run for thier money! yay

HI Megpack,

I suppose we do it cos we can! Powdered milk can be used in so many other things eg for yoghurt  and added to bread mixture.

I like to minimize cans in cupboard...

but most of all cos its fun!  Wink

Susiebee
