This was delicious, a real hit! I used 2 small onions, added a rasher of bacon and used thermo vegetable stock paste, and I added them with the onions to cook, together with a tablespoon of caramelised balsamic vinegar, and 1 Teaspoon sugar. After letting it cool I then added a good tablespoon each of Parmesan cheese and sour cream together with the cream cheese. Will definitely be making this again. My daughter loves French onion dip and she said it tastes as good as the bought one.

Didn't like this one at all. It was bitter. I took it to a party and the hostess tried it and commented that she didn't like it either. It came home uneaten. What a waste of all that cream cheese.

Unfortunately this just wasn’t to my liking. I am used to store bought French Onion dip, and this is one of the few Thermo recipes that I don’t prefer over something mass produced. Sorry 😐

Absolutely delicious and so
Absolutely delicious and so easy!! I used TM stock paste and added a teaspoon of sugar. Had no problem with after taste as some comments below. Will make again!
I'm giving this 4 stars only
I'm giving this 4 stars only because mine also had a slightly bitter aftertase. I suspect that's to do with the size of the onions. If I'd used 2 small onions I think it would have been sweeter without the bitter aftertaste. Also I added a little sour cream to loosen the mix, as per a previous comment, but with the amount of onion I had it wasn't really needed, so my dip was a bit on the soft side. So all in all I think this is a great recipe and I just have to refine my process.
Yum. Better than Kraft dip
Yum. Better than Kraft dip which is my favourite. I used 1/2 large red onion and 1 small to medium brown onion. Cooked it and added I massel vege stock cube (all I had) with about 4 mins left in the cooking time. Allowed to cool and mixed in cream cheese. Can't wait to eat it tomorrow at my sons party

Our households favourite dip. As soon as it is made it is eaten and as soon as it is eaten they are clamouring for more! I add a little sugar and balsamic vinegar while the onions are cooking. Delicious!
