I made this for my family for lunch today. As a coeliac, I used gluten free fresh lasagne sheets, and gluten free Aldi Plain Flour for the Bechamel Sauce. The sauce was a bit runny, so I will use less milk next time (as there was heaps of sauce left over). My family thought it was really nice and mentioned that if they hadn't known, they would not have picked it for a gluten free dish. This recipe will certainly be one of my go to recipes for when I host friends/family for lunch.

Tried making this for the first time today and I've got to say.. OMG.. it's soooo good!! I didn't drain the liquid cause there's wasn't a lot there and for us, the consistency of the sauce was just perfect... That, combined with the bechamel sauce and the cheese on top... simply YUM!!!! and so easy to make too!!! never thought I could make my own lasagne tmrc_emoticons.) THANK YOU for sharing the recipe xx

    I absolutely loved this.

I added celery, mushrooms, fresh parsley and chives then served it with home made garlic bread. I did drain the excess liquid off as others had mentioned as it was quite runny.

This will be a frequent meal in our house.

I love this recipe - as is or with the suggested additions.

Another tip for those that don't like the runny-ness of the sauce, when cooking after adding tomatoes and paste and stock, cook with MC removed and simmer basket in place to stop splatter. Can also cook at higher temp to help cook off the excess liquid.

    Submitted by ejwarner on 18. February 2020 - 15:01.

shelly3000:has it been the flavour, or is the sauce too runny? Have you tried adding any extra herbs eg dried mixed herbs or other herbs/spices? If the sauce is too runny you make like to drain it before assembling the lasagne. Some people also prefer to cook their mince in the steaming basket (not varoma) to keep the mince more whole, however that's not my preferred way.

This tasted fabulous and was so much easier than cooking lasagne the traditional way.
I read the comments re some people finding their meat sauce watery, so I drained my sauce through a large sieve over a bowl while I made the white sauce. I have some very fussy eaters in my family and everyone absolutely loved this lasagne. Thank you for sharing it. Will definitely make again and again.

    Submitted by Chickita79 on 16. October 2019 - 18:05.

I've already rated this recipe (full stars), however just wanted to comment, there is no need to wash the bowl after you take out the mince, to make your white sauce. This is how the italians do it! It gives your sauce more flavour (and less washing up, of course!).

I also have started to cook the mince in the basket as suggested earlier. Then add into the sauce for the last minute or two.

So this was my very 1st time making Lasagne as I always thought it was too much work for a meal I didn't really love! But after reading the reviews I gave it ago. I followed the recipe with 1 slight alteration; by cooking the Bechamel sauce 1st so I didn't have to rinse bowl and it turned out absolutely perfect 👌 It will be a staple in our household now..... Thank you for sharing 😍
