Lovely pudding made out of store cupboard ingredients. I substituted the apricot jam for marmalade as that was already in the cupboard, and it came out beautifully!

OMG this is delicious. I reduced the sugar in both the pudding by 50g and sauce by 50g and was still lovely.
Easy to make too. I will definitely make this again and again. Thank you for sharing. 😊

This is my new favourite dessert recipe! This was my first time trying Malva Pudding and everyone loved it! The simplicity of the recipe is a bonus - I served it with vanilla icecream and didn't find it too sweet at all

    Submitted by ronellem on 5. August 2016 - 22:34.

Malva pudding just like my grandma, mother and myself used to enjoy in South Africa.

I reduced the sugar to 170 g in the pudding mix and will try 150 g next time. By using a rectangle dish, baking time can be reduced to 20 minutes

Super easy take on a delicious, traditional dessert! Due to it's extreme sweetness and richness, it's one of those treats you only have once a year or when you have South African family or friends visiting tmrc_emoticons.;)

    Submitted by Trav on 31. August 2014 - 20:44.

I have made this a few times for a quick and easy dessert, and everyone that has had it so far loves it. It's a bit like sticky date pudding or golden syrup dumplings. Very nice thank you. Big Smile

My South African friend told me to make this and I absolutely loved it. Waited for the sauce to soak in and ate with cream. The sauce alone is very sweet but once it's absorbed it is divine!!!

  • We used to love this recipe,

    Submitted by ThermieloverSue on 8. September 2013 - 17:43.

We used to love this recipe, but our tastebuds must have adapted to healthier eating - I found it way too sweet and buttery.

Made it for the second time today, but adjusted sauce by using

    200g milk,

    100g raw sugar

    1tsp vanilla

    110g water

    30g butter

It is better for us this way, so thought someone else might like a "lighter" version! Thank you for posting!  Party

tmrc_emoticons.)  Cooked this tonight.  So easy and really yummy.  Was a bit similar to a sticky date pudding.  I could have eaten lots of this  but need to watch the sugar intake.
