Recipe's preparation

  1. Place all ingredients except cornflour into Thermomix bowl.  Cook on 100 degrees, speed 1 for 30 minutes.

Make a paste with cornflour mixed in a little vinegar.  Add to relish and cook on 100 degrees, speed 1 for a further 1 minute.

Pour relish into sterilised jars and seal. (Relish will be runny, but will thicken on cooling).

Tip

(NOTE: Because I only make a small quantity of relish at one time, I'm not too pedantic about my jars.  To sterilise them, I half-fill them with water and place in the microwave for a couple of minutes, until the water comes to a rapid boil.)

Love this recipe. It's not at all too sweet. Relish is supposed to be sweet and this one hits all the right notes. I also used mustard powder (wasn't sure if it should be paste). The curry flavor was also perfect and not too overpowering.

Made half recipe. Used less sugar and still very sweet. Might try halving sugar next time. Used as a pizza sauce. Very tasty and easy!

  • Thank you for the recipe, I made your relish...

    Submitted by YveB on 19. September 2016 - 07:19.

Thank you for the recipe, I made your relish yesterday, it tasted delicious and it was wonderful to make it from ingredients I had in my cupboard. I made a half batch which was plenty.

I put the onion cut in half and half of a green apple with skin, cored and cut in quarters into the bowl first then chopped both for 4 sec speed 4

if it is still to chunky for my needs I blend it a little before putting into jars

  • Easy tomato chutney and sooo

    Submitted by BarbF on 3. February 2016 - 20:37.

Easy tomato chutney and sooo yummy. Best of all, it uses ingredients always in the cupboard.

I  made this on the second day after I received my Thermomix (TM5). Turned out perfect on my first attempt.  I won't be buying any more store-bought chutney!

  • This relish was so easy and

    Submitted by tondeb2 on 13. November 2015 - 17:45.

This relish was so easy and delish. I used mustard seeds instead of mustard and reduced the sugar a bit. I also added a little more cornflour... plus everything was already in my fridge, cupboard. Thank you

  • Lovely relish which was so

    Submitted by JeffnJulie on 31. July 2015 - 13:22.

Lovely relish which was so easy to make and will go with many dishes e.g. on cheese and tomato bread roll for lunch and with zucchini slice for dinner.  Using 2 x 400 gram cans of tomato, it did make a lot - 2 large bottles and  2 small bottles.  I used a combination of Dijon and seeded mustard.  I chopped the mix a little once it was cooked before adding the cornflour.  Consistency was good.

Just made this and tried it before putting I to jars. So tasty. It was a little runny so hopefully it thickens whilst cooling.  Great easy recipe and tasty.  Thanks.

This is beautiful relish..so quick and easy. I blitzed the apple and onions and then added 400g of fresh tomatoes, (skins removed and roughly chopped). It doesnt get easier or tastier than this...how easy in the Thermomix!!!!! Cooking 1

  • I love this relish! Even got

Submitted by Mrs Nangle on 26. April 2014 - 10:00.

I love this relish! Even got the thumbs up from my Nanna who makes all her own relish and sauces. I make a half quantity and just put it in a sealed container in the fridge as it doesn't last long in my house.

    Submitted by carlieU on 17. April 2014 - 11:13.

Yummo! Really lovely relish! Tiny bit too sloppy for me so will add a wee bit more corn flower next time.

I also chopped the apple and onion in thermy before adding the other stuff.

Love, love, love this recipe ! Perfect every time & so easy.  I also add extra vege ingredients depending on what's in the fridge. Today I added extra capsicum, some celery & a little Chilli Jam for some kick. Can't wait to see how it turns out

  • Gave away a jar here and

    Submitted by WildMum on 10. November 2013 - 16:11.

Gave away a jar here and there and all have loved it.  Had the odd lump of cornflour in it so going to make sure it's more dilute next time so mixes in more. Will be cooking  this up again today my 6yr old loves it as does hubby.

  • Just made this today and

    Submitted by WildMum on 14. July 2013 - 20:54.

Just made this today and added red capsicum diced to the mix and used yellow mustard seeds for the mustard component. Is it supposed to be mustard powder, seeds or paste? 800g of tomatoes is that right? I just used a large tin. Have high hopes for this recipe as we love the baxters tomato and red pepper relish and if I can replicate that at a fraction of the cost and with less "extra" ingredients I am going to be stoked. So thanks heaps for another "make it perfect" recipe!
