Recipe is created for
TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.
-
Recipe's preparation
- Hull strawberries and chop roughly. Add to bowl
Core apple and chop roughly (leave skin on). Add to bowl
Add lemon juice and sugar to bowl
Place simmering basket on lid to reduce splatter
Cook 35 minutes, Varoma temp, speed 1.5
Note:
check how well jam is set by placing 1 tsp of jam on a plate and putting it in the freezer for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, if you run your finger through the jam, it should stay separate. If too runny, cook at varoma for 5 minutes - repeat until correct consistency is reached.
I've also created a variant for a mixed berry jam if you're looking for more flavour!

Tip
If you add the sugar last, you shouldn't get problems with the jam catching on the bottom of the bowl
Granny Smith or Pink Lady apples work well. Others may also work, but I haven't tried them. If you try another variety, be sure to let everyone know how it worked in the comments!
This quantity makes just under 1 standard jam jar (mine 3/4 filled a Cottee's 500g jam jar)
This recipe is an amalgamation of a number of recipes, however the method comes from Tenina's recipe (//tenina.com/recipes/strawberry-vanilla-jam). Thanks Tenina!

I just made this jam, threw in some blueberries as I was just short of the strawberry quantity. OMG it is so good! I used Natvia instead of sugar and worked out perfectly. This is going to be a regular here! 😋

Only added 150gm sugar, added a few slivers of lemon skin.
Cooked for 30 mins.
All set after testing on plate.

Great recipe, best that I have found. I reduced the sugar to 140g and used half large Granny Smith and half gala apples.
I used the reverse at .5 speed, less splash and works perfectly with similar texture as the other method

Excellent! I used half strawberries that I had had stored in the freezer and half a bag of supermarket frozen raspberries. It was about 630gms of fruit which didn't seem to overcrowd the TM31. I added about 20 grams more sugar. I also used the lemon pips in the mix as I believe the pectin in the pips helps with setting. Cooked at Varoma but did watch carefully and used the steamer basket just in case. Didn't burn but put the ingredients in as directed.
Will make again.

So amazingly easy to make jam in the thermomix. Thank you for this recipe. I cooked it on 105 degrees and it was perfect and no splattering. The mystery was where did the apple skin go????

AMAZING!...
AMAZING!
A quick, easy, foolproof recipe. Strawberries are cheap, sweet and plentiful at the moment so the perfect time to make some strawberry jam.
I love that this recipe uses no artificial jam setter and requires far less sugar than most other jam recipes.
I added a fair bit of lemon juice and loved the sweet and sour flavour that this produced.
The first batch I made spat out all over the bench (even with the basket on top) so don’t be tempted to double the recipe! The second batch did not do this, although I used the same strawberries etc. I did however get a burnt patch on the base of my bowl each time which may indicate a hotspot on my machine although I have never experienced this with anything else I have made.
The jam was a beautiful thick fruity consistency. Thanks for a great recipe!

Great recipe. I left my strawberries rather chunky for the texture and used a crimson snow apple. Either the apple worked too well or was on the large size as my jam turned out maybe a little on the too thick side but tastes amazing and the apple gave a little but of a crisp apple taste. Will be making this one again just with a smaller apple
Great recipe. Thanks so much.

I am needing to make a large quantity of this as gifts for a friend’s wedding 24 jars in total. Would it keep well out of a fridge? How far in advance would you suggest making it?
Many thanks in advance 😊

My go-to Jam recipe! I've done this with strawberries, blackberries and rasberries and turns out perfect everytime. Fills 2 small jars so I have doubled the recipe before. Also, I use only 70 grams of brown sugar and it is still sweet as can be! Love the use of green apples for as it keeps the whole recipe nice and natural

We went strawberry picking last weekend to support the farmers and I have just made my first ever batch, it did bun on the bottom but water and lemon juice for ten minutes in Veroma got it off.
strawberry jam doesn’t last long in this family and let’s just say I will not be buying store brought again!!!
i have my second batch cooking and I have another 3kgs of strawberries to go 😂
thank you for the recipe

Great recipe!! This jam is absolutely delicious!! I had more strawberries than your recipe stated and used 170g of sugar otherwise the same as your recipe. I cooked for 30 mins on Varoma and it didn't burn however it did splatter everywhere but I know that is because I had more than I should have for the TM31. I don't like chunky fruit in my jams so I blitzed it for a couple of seconds at the beginning. Some people might not like that type of texture for jam though, it's a bit more like jam-consistency strawberry puree! Thanks for giving me a use for all the strawberries I'm trying to buy to support the growers . Mine made 3 decent sized jars which I sterilised before hand and will store happily in my pantry for ages!

Just AMAZING, first time I have made jam and was surprised how easy this was to make. I used my TM31 and reduced heat to 90deg for 30 mins. Just perfect, no burning at all. So yummie especially when warm. Now just need to make the scones. This will be added to my favourites. Thank you.
This worked perfectly Thankyou for sharing. 😀

OMG HELP ME! I am eating this jam warm with a spoon straight from the jar. I don’t even like jam that much. I didn’t chop the strawberries so there are occasional chunks of strawberry. This makes it more like the texture of my grandmother’s recipe.

OMG 😍😍😍
this is Devine! No burning or boiling over issues here - only cooked for 25 mins.
first batch, reduced sugar to 100 g - too tart for hubby but I loved it! Batch 2 and 3 used 120 g and hubby loved it. I used CSR jam setting sugar.
did not put the measuring cup on the lid, just sat the basket on top and no dramas
made the three batches, one after the other, no burning or sticking, but put the sugar in last each time as per the tips

I've just made this jam, and it's turned out thicker than I thought. I reduced the sugar content to 100g and used the CSR jam setting sugar, as well as adding 30g finely chopped naked ginger. I think the cooking time was too long. Should I make this again, I'll see if the 20 mins works better than than 30. By the way it does taste really good.

Made this on Thursday arvo after buying strawberries from strawberry farm on the way home. Gave a sample to a jam maker just to see if I had passed the test. A big thumbs up from her. So made 1 1/2 times batch today and worked out superb. I'll sure to be making this again. Thanks for the recipe. Used recipe as is and no problems with burning at all. I only have TM 31, and all good.
