Oriental fried noodle salad

Ingredients

1 litre(s)

Dressing

  • 250 g white vinegar
  • 220 g sugar
  • 100 g soy sauce
  • 30 g sesame oil

Salad

  • 250 g Chinese cabbage
  • 100 g Oriental fried noodles, (eg. Chang's)
  • 25 g toasted almonds
  • 25 g Toasted sesame seeds
  • spring onions (optional), thinly sliced
  • bean sprouts (optional)

Recipe's preparation

    Dressing
  1. Place all dressing ingredients in bowl and cook 5 minutes/90 degrees/speed 1.


     


    Decant into sauce bottle or jar for storage.


     


    Makes 2 cups.

  2. Salad
  3. Thinly slice Chinese cabbage and place on serving dish.


    Sprinkle over toasted almonds and toasted sesame seeds, and spring onions and bean sprouts (if desired).


     


    Pour over liberal amount of dressing.


    Place Oriental fried noodles on top, and serve.

Tip

This recipe is adapted from the Oriental Fried Noodle Salad recipe on the back of the Chung's Oriental Fried Noodles packet.  I have omitted most of the oil from that recipe, so this is much lower in fat.  Chung's Oriental Fried Noodles are available from most major supermarkets in the Asian section.

    It seemed to simple to be yummy but this salad was so good! I added more almond slivers and sesame seeds and some coriander. Yum....thank you tmrc_emoticons.-)

    This was really nice although I think the sugar content is unnecessary. I didn't use as much as the recipe said and still found it way too sweet. I added more nuts to the salad and less vinegar to the sauce.
