I used a tin of red kidney beans and a tin of black beans and also added a chilli and a teaspoon of paprika. I still would like a bit more "zing", but it was a great meat alternitive for my buritos!

Used a mix of beans and kidney beans, ground cumin in lack of cumin seeds. Recipe is "husband approved". tmrc_emoticons.D We'll never ever buy the store stuff again. It was a bit runny first but I just cooked it a few more minutes without MC. Thanks for the recipe!!!

Refried in Nachos!  Added a chilli during the onion stage.  It tasted a little sweet (maybe kidney beans are sweet) so I'd like to try it with smoked paprika next time to balance it out.

thanks for this quick, healthy and very tasty recipe. my sister-in-law and I both love this recipe. it's our go to dish when we have a hoard of hungry children. they're happy with chopped up vegies to dip into this. i use it every time we do nachos now. it's so much better than shop bought refried beans. 5 stars easy

I had soaked a whole pack of dried red kidney beans overnight then used them for this. I upped the onion (2 x red ones as that what I had on hand) and I also added coriander stems in the cooking stage.

On blitzing I also added some tomato juice and extra fresh coriander leaves.  Yummo result!

Great recipe, so easy and tastes great! I had an unexpected guest for nachos so I made this to make it all go further...we ended up having enough left overs for lunch the next day too!

Careful on the water, mine was a bit too running in my opinion, no one else said anything tmrc_emoticons.)

In the USA Pinto Beans are most commonly used for Refried Beans followed by Black Beans instead of Kidney Beans. When living in Australia we definitely didn't come across any tins of Pinto beans, but we did increasingly find tinned Black Beans and found dried black beans at even more shops.(Borlotti Beans look like Pinto beans but have a different taste and texture.)

This smells and tastes great! I used olive oil for mine, and ate it with vegetarian tacos.

I must have added too much water because it was a bit runny.
