If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

This was a rough soup - I couldn't finish eating it. Most ingredients were undercooked, despite being in the Thermo for an hour or so. The vegetables were hard and the bacon was crap. I'm lucky I bought a pre-cooked BBQ chook, so at least something was nicely cooked in it. I'd recommend roasting the veg and cooking the bacon in a fry pan first. It's not worth it otherwise.

What a great recipe and base recipe. Can add/omit and it works. I didn't use bacon, potato or pumpkin, only 1/2 the amount of chicken, added an extra carrot, and in the last 1/2 hour about 11/2 cups of frozen beans, and it is a hearty meal in itself. I added a little more water after cooking to make a slightly thinner consistency, but this is the recipe I've been searching for. Thanks for sharing.

  • Soup was very nice but too

    Submitted by Caro14 on 18. September 2016 - 20:49.

Soup was very nice but too salty. Next time I will omit the salt as there is plenty in the chicken stock & bacon.

Very hearty on a cold winter night.

  • Tasty recipe! I often am

    Submitted by ccgardens on 12. June 2016 - 09:32.

Tasty recipe! I often am short of & end up substituting one or more of the ingredients & it's worked everytIme. My chicken thighs are always frozen so I place them in the simmering basket & add more water to make sure that they are covered while they cook.  Any leftover the next day gets tossed in a pan & cooked with dumplings on top. Thanks again  tmrc_emoticons.)

Yum... this soup has amazing flavour and is so SO good!!! Will definitely be making it again!! I didn't have the exact ingredients (no parsnip, but put in a tomato instead), and don't think it makes much difference. Really tasty... now for my second bowl!! tmrc_emoticons.-)
