  • 2 eggs, (I used medium 50g eggs)
  • 2 litres water, (To fill to the 2L mark or slightly under, not over)

      Recipe is created for
      TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    Egg time!
  1. Fill jug to the 2L indicator with room temp water.

*Dont fill above the line, I dont bother weighing, I just ensure i dont go higher than the line. Slightly under is also fine.

    Heat @ 7minutes, 70degreees, speed 3.5

    When water is finished;

Place 2 cold eggs* in basket and pop basket in the bowl.

    Cook 12minutes, 70degrees, speed 3.5

Remove from water and run under water for 30 seconds or so to cool.

  2. Removing from shell
  3. This is the part most people find tricky so here is how i do it.

Tap the larger end of the egg so it forms slight cracks, do it gently as you dont want to smash the shell. Peel back small sections of the egg shell at a time. keep going until your egg shell resembles something like the picture, a hole about the size of a 50c coin. Turn upside down onto plate/ toast etc and it *should* plonk right out. If it doesnt you can either peel back little bits more shell at a time, OR you can run a spoon around the inside and manouver it out that way. It may take a few times before you master the egg plonking hehe.

  4. Enjoy

Tip

**I've been giving advice on this recipe on my TM5 HINTS TIPS AND RECIPES page on FB. Some people are having great success and others are still struggling.

If i am using jumbo size eggs I increase the time cooking eggs to 12.5 minutes.

I have not tried to cook more than 2 eggs at a time.

It is okay if the water doesn't quite reach 70c in the first warm up, i have never had a problem.

Most importantly, experiment, if it isn't cooked to perfection for your tastebuds/ preferences then reduce/ increase cooking time by 30seconds each time until you find your favourite consistency.

Don't give up, this is such an easy way to do eggs, i do it a few times a week and i never have a fail anymore. Its no mess, no vinegars, no spraying with oil. Its just easy.

*I use cold eggs because being in QLD i feel its too warm to leave eggs in cupboard. If you use room temp eggs, id reduce cooking time. Maybe this week ill try it with room temp eggs and give you guys a guide to work with.

**this recipe is under perfectly poached eggs for the tm31.

I did 4 x 600g eggs for 13 minutes at 70 degrees and the whites were still quite underdone, so perhaps another 30-60 seconds next time. Otherwise a nice easy method for something that has caught me out many times before!

for those posters having issues with peeling the eggs - if you let the eggs cool a little first you can quite literally just crack the egg onto the buttered toast, and youre all done!

My eggs were delish however I found this recipe very time consuming with the peeling of the egg shell.l There is defiantly less cleaning involve with the bowl, blade and simmering basket with this recipe so that's a plus! However I will probably go back to the poached egg recipe on the TM5 chip. Thank you for sharing your recipe tmrc_emoticons.)

    Submitted by Bromjewel on 15. May 2016 - 09:23.

Have cooked 4 eggs perfectly with this recipe, so I thought I would try 5 as they fit in the basket without any issue. I found that the eggs don't rotate when you have 5 in the basket. So I recommend 4 maximum at a time.

I recommend this recipe, very easy and clean.

    Submitted by SammyJR on 7. February 2016 - 09:49.

I poach eggs the old fashioned way quite well so was hesitant to change methods. I keep eggs at room temp so  reduced time by 30 secs the first time but yolks still overdone. 2nd time reduced time to 11mins - much better but found them to be a little cold for my liking. This morning cooked for 10.5 mins & didn't run under water - nice hot eggs with runny yolks - perfect!! Thanks, I'm converted.
