Sugar Cookie Dough

  • 225g softened butter, cubed
  • 230g white sugar, (1 cup)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp vanilla sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch salt
  • 470g plain flour, (3 cups)

      Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

Recipe's preparation

  1. Weight in butter and sugar, and cream for 30 seconds, speed 5.

    Add in egg and vanilla extract, mix on speed 3 for 5 seconds.

    Add vanilla sugar, baking powder, salt and flour and combine on speed 5 until a dough forms (may need to use your spatula).

    Knead the dough and roll out on Thermomat or bench. Cut cookies and lay on a lined baking tray.

    Bake in 180 degree oven for 10-12 mins or until edges are lightly golden.

    Cool on tray or a rack, and decorate as desired.

Roll dough using baking paper to avoid breaking and sticking to rolling pin.

    Perfect recipe. Made these for my daughter's birthday party and everyone was so impressed with the look and taste. I topped them with fondant (used 1kg pack from woolies and had a bit left over).
