I was trained initially at the Torquay Technical College in the mid-1960s, studying catering and hotel management. However, careerwise I took a very different route encompassing both health and social care and the operatic and musical stage. I have however continued to cook all my life in a home setting and for larger gatherings. I maintain a lively interest in experiencing all cuisines, regularly eating in different restaurants and then adapting dishes for my own use. I am always guided by the old adage that "a recipe is just a guide" and therefore will adapt a recipe to the ingredients and quantities that I have available to me.
