Ingredients

0 portion(s)

  • 500 grams bakers flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons Yeast
  • 20 grams olive oil
  • 300 grams Luke Warm Water
  • vegemite
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Parmesan cheese
5

Recipe's preparation

  1. 1. Grate cheeses separately, set aside

    2. Place flour, salt and yeast in TM bowl, then water and oil

    3. Mix Speed 5 for 5 seconds

    4. Mix on dough mode for 1 minute 30 seconds

    5. Wrap in TM Bread Mat and let prove for approx 30 minutes

    6. Divide mixture into two portions

    7. Roll out one portion into a square shape to desired thickness

    8. Spread vegemite all over (I warmed vegemite in the microwave to make spreading easier), sprinkle cheese all over

    9. Roll up into a sausage shape and cut with TM spatula approx 5-6 cms width

    10. Place into a springform tin (I put baking paper on the bottom). I placed one scroll in the middle then popped some around just touching each other.

    11. Sprinkle a little more cheese over the top

    12. Place into a hot oven (around 210*C) for around 15-20minutes

    13. Cool scrolls onto a cake rack

I think if you put it in a cold oven it proves for a second time whilst the oven heats up.

My first attempt at making scrolls. I'm normally useless at anything that requires a rolling pin but these turned out great. I noted above the recommended amount of cheese and vegemite. Very tasty and so easy.
I'm putting them in the freezer for guests on the weekend. If not I'll eat them all.
    Thanks

These are excellent. I also cut strips and roll individually so they are a little wider and rounder. I pop mine into large muffin pans to make sure they don't unroll. They turn out beautiful and round, just like the bought ones! I've also used wholemeal SR flour with success.

    Submitted by julesp on 1. February 2020 - 19:21.

Made a batch x 1.5 in my TM6 (kneading an extra minute) with a plan to freeze for school lunches. Split the batch into three and filled with:
    Vegemite & grated cheese
    Tomato sauce, ham & cheese
    Apple & custard

So far have the savoury ones out of the oven and the kids said we might need something else for school lunches because they want to eat them all now tmrc_emoticons.;)

    Thanks for the recipe tmrc_emoticons.)

I have a TM5 and have successfully made 1.5 times this recipe, just needs a little longer to knead!
I do them close together but not quite touching on a flat tray rather than in a springform tin. Still never have any left over to freeze for school lunches though!

Food1: I make these all the time for my kids to take to school but I dont use vegimite anymore I make mine with pizza sauce, either way the amount of chesse depends on you, I treat it like a big pizza I put an even cover over the whole thing with no gaps because my kids like lots of cheese. The amount also depends on how big you roll out the dough. also I dont sprinkle any extra at the end.

    Submitted by moomin on 11. January 2018 - 16:13.

I tried making these using wholemeal flour, without the TMX and they were so gross I went back to my trusty thermie and white flour. much better result. I grated 120g of parmesan in tmx and used half on vegemite square and half on tomato paste square. added chopped pineapple and fresh basil to the tomato one. veg one turned out too good, yet to try pienapple one but expect it to be good too. thanks for posting.
