For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation
- Add the 1000g water to your Thermomix.
- Insert internal steam basket.
- Add 375g brown rice to internal steam basket
- For 25 seconds, wash rice using Speed 9
- Remove the basket and discard the water.
- Place the internal steam basket with the rice back into the Thermomix.
- Pour 1000g of water over the rice into the Thermomix.
- Stir the rice in the internal steam basket.
- Close the basket and place the lid onto the Thermomix.
- Cook rice for 20 minutes, on Varoma and Speed 4.
- Take the lid off carefully.
- Pour 300g of water over the rice.
- Stir the rice in the internal steaming basket.
- Close the basket and place the lid onto the Thermomix.
- Cook rice for 25 minutes, on Varoma and Speed 4.
- Use the spatula to remove the basket and serve.
