Potato Bake

  • 200 grams cheese, 2cm cube
  • 1000 grams Hard Potatoes, quartered
  • 1 onion, halved
  • 300 grams bacon, diced
  • 25 grams Butter
  • 300 grams cream
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable stock paste

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 200C.
  2. Add cheese to TM bowl, 10sec/sp8. reserve.
  3. Add half potatoes to TM bowl, 2sec/sp5, place in baking dish.
    repeat with remaining potatoes.
  4. Add onion to TM bowl, 3sec/sp5.
    Add bacon and butter, saute 5min/varoma/Counter-clockwise operationsp1.
    Scrape sides of bowl down.
    Add cream and stock paste, mix 30sec/Counter-clockwise operationsp2.
  5. Pour cream mix over potatoes and stir through to combine.
    Top with reserved cheese.
  6. Bake for 50 minutes until golden brown.
    Serve.

Tip

Great recipe to use up leftover xmas ham in place of bacon.
Bacon/ham can be thrown in from frozen, making this dish quick and easy to prepare.

    At first I was worried about chopping the potatoes in the thermomix but it turned out great. I added 2 tsp of minced garlic and omitted the bacon. It was a hit, 5 stars!

    This recipe was a total hit with my family...super easy and super yummy. I made it with half normal potatoes and half sweet potatoes with parmesan as well as cheddar and it was delish. Will definitely be making this again and I love the fact that's it's easy enough for my daughter to make as well. Thank you

    Entire family love this recipe. Super quick and easy. I do the sauce part first and put in a jug, then do the potato shredding last to avoid them going brown. Have made them both ways and have never had a complaint or leftovers!

    I loved this potato bake. This will be a regular in our house. My husband said it was the best potato bake he has ever had. I'm so impressed, I'm making it again for a potluck dinner. It really is easy, but super delicious.

    I made this last night, (my first pototoe bake in the thermy) very tasty, & my hubby said it was good too!!! Normally when i make my pototo bake, i would have sliced the pototatoes, so i was concerned putting the potatoes in the thermy would have made it more like mashed pototato... but it is more like diced potoato, however, it wasnt anything like what i imagined it to be.

    I added garlic with the onion for extra taste.

    I will make this again Smile
